That man has some serious "yeast" issues.

So what? :harryfacepalm:

Not saying he couldn't do it in our league, just we all know the risks of signings players from abroad and just because they do it in their league doesn't mean they can do it in the premier league. I don't follow the Turkish league so I'm not sure how different it is to our league so I don't know how easy it would be to adapt, but then again we can say that about Damiao etc.

Always a gamble.

Every transfer is a gamble, Shevchenko scored bucket loads in Italy and Europe but couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo in England. A someone else said, Yilmaz scored a lot in Europe last season so I think that makes him a safer bet. He's strong, physical and a good finisher - not my first choice but if AVB wants him then I'll support him.

Shevchenko was who I was thinking of too, the perfect example. If it is true that we are going to bid £17m for him then AVB and Baldini must have faith him him considering the other strikers we could get for the same sort of money. As long as we get someone who will score goals and a lot of them I don't care who it is.

He's turning 28 in a few weeks but his goal scoring record is amazing. Big risk but thats what you have to take. 17m is also a big asking fee and I dont see much of a reason why he'd leave

For the record, I'd take him over Damiao and Negredo

Is Yilmaz' release clause set at £17m or is that just Gala's valuation? Considering the player has been in Turkey his entire career and he's nearing thirty, there's a good chance he'd be quite keen on a move to London. Therefore, that price might drop before all is said and done if we are in truth actively pursuing him. That possibility could also be why we've allegedly inquired into his situation.

Shevchenko was old, and just physically hit a wall. It wasn't because he wasn't class or "couldn't do it in England" - Chelsea just bought him when he was broken down and couldn't play anymore.

That's what would scare me about Villa. He's about the same age as Sheva was (actually slightly older), he's had injury problems and his career might just be over. It's not because he wasn't a brilliant player over his career, it's that his career might just be over.

He'd lost his pace by the time he got to England though and you need more pace here than in Italy. Stupid purchase by a meddling owner really.

Anyway, Turkey isn't an easy league to play in by any stretch of the imagination but there are a lot of strikers available for c.£20m

Typical owner purchase really, it's no wonder he didn't work out. And that has as much to do with being a square peg in a round hole as his decline in form and fitness. He made the same mistake with Torres.

I don't see us getting Yilmaz for 17 million pounds. In this article: http://www.turkish-football.com/news_read.php?id=4281, it says Galatasary value him at 40 million euros, and in this one: http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/sports/2013-05/24/c_132406572.htm, it says 30 million. These we just from a couple months ago so I don't see them changing their valuation so quickly.
The game changes if he wants a move and it's t happy anymore. Playing in London with an ambitious team like ours is an attractive offer
