If the season drags on through the summer how will there even be a transfer window? one week at the end of the dragged out season, or will players be moving whilst games are still being played ... expiring contracts all end June 30th can they all be moved? the more you look at the impact of an extended season the less feasible it becomes ....

That said the EPL have 3 billion on the line with the 2019/20 TV contract .... so for that kind of money I guess anything is possible.

Ah yes, the true commercialisation of the EPL comes to light hey. What are they going to do, sue the teams? We're clear of corona at the moment, does that make it our fault?

From a footballing perspective this should be UEFA's mess to sort out and then the broadcasters and sponsors or whoever can get pissed off with them about it.

From a business perspective it SHOULD fall to each club to bear their own fincanial burden for the time being. Clubs should be in the hands of responsible owners who aren't making the mistake of banking on their club staying up / winning a cup / European spot in order to bankroll their current team. Of course we all know the fit-owner test (or whatever it's called) is an absolute fucking joke.

thats the price of turning football and the league in to a commercialised business. Sponsors will bail, players will leave and teams could crumble.

...Jesus thinking about that almost makes me glad we have Daniel Levy in charge through all this.

I doubt football will start next season at this rate. Judging by the government case study, it wont be back until August 2021

UEFA will meet today but like everyone else they have no idea what's around the corner so it will be all guesswork and scenarios ... might work might not

If you look at what's now becoming the accepted timescale there will be a peak then a decline in cases but the virus won't go away until a vaccine is created, that's many months away. The question then will be at what point are you willing to abandon social distancing for high profile sportsmen, putting them and their families (I guess they could be quarantined away from families) at risk, just to finish a football season, and would the players do it anyway?

It could be that we just take a year out and resume games in Match 2021 with leagues and cups where they are now, there will be contract issues and maybe a transfer window will have taken place, but at least every team will have been treated the same.

Holy fuck, to be honest right now I'm a on day by day survival without football. What the hell am I going to do for a year without football? Get a real hobby?

Cook, clean and do laundry. MAybe it will benefit society

Hopefully. Being a 31 year old man those are thing I do regularly, seeing as I'm a chef by trade. House is usually fairly clean and my partner and I both work in kitchens so we've just made sure we implement the same standards as when working in a restaurant...well a very clean one at least.

Anyone know where I can watch some old classic Spurs matches? I know full matches and shows has a decent selection going but they seem o only have the modern era Tottenham games at the moment.

I can't see the FA and Premier League allowing this to affect 2 seasons. If it can be prevented, they'll make sure next season is played out as normal.

Not sure how they achieve that, and I'm glad I'm not the person who is responsible for making the decision.

No matter what they decide, someone will be upset.

- Write off the season? - Liverpool are deserved champions but wouldnt win it, Leicester wouldnt get UCL, do City still keep the League Cup? What happens to do the UCL and UEL places for next season?

- End the season now? - Teams have games in hand over other teams. Do you relegate the teams down there despite Villa have a game over Watford and being just 2 points behind them? Do you make it a 22 team league for a year? Then what of the teams in the play off places who have a chance of promotion, whether automatic or through the play offs?

Play the season on later in the year? - Then you have to look at what affects it has on next season, the transfer window, players whose contracts are up in June, Euro 2021 (if its moved) and a general pre season for the players and coaching staff.

It's benefited some teams, including Spurs where we have the chance to get Kane, Son, Sissoko and Davies back fit, but other teams will argue that and say its unfair. If we pip Chelsea to 4th, they'll be livid.

The Championship clubs are apparently already threatening to sue if they are denied promotion, no doubt any EPL club threatened with relegation will do the same. It might be better if this season can't be finished then legally going back to the last completed season becomes the only real option.

As much as a shit show that would cause, it would be hilarious to see Liverpool fans if that was announced.

Just give them a certificate of recognition.

Mate, no one cares about football right now. It aint coming back for the foreseable future.
Its not the fact that no one cares, it's that they are looking at what's best in the immediate future.

Football clubs are just as much a business as the airlines that are beginning to struggle. You can't close a business for a year and expect it to survive. Sponsors won't pay out, they aren't receiving gate revenue or competition prize money.

The virus is terrible, but it you can't have the world just stop. It would destroy the economy.

Everything is in the governments hands. We wait and see.

At this point. Next season is unlikely. Nevermind finishing this one.

The report by Imperial College is there for everyone to read. Its a 12-18 month impact.

Hobby now let's not do anything hasty. Here's my suggestion. An old abandoned oil tanker, an undisclosed location, twenty one of the world's best footballers. Perhaps Eric Cantona could host a mini tournament. This would fill the void and get us through the dark days to come......
