I think claiming a player increases club revenue is like claiming the Royal family pay for themselves with tourism. There's no way to quantify the latter and there's no way to really make money with the former. Shy of renegotiating our already big deal with Nike, they'll take the bulk of shirt sales. Stadium can only take 63k with or without Messi. Tickets aren't suddenly going to quadruple (not even Levy)

Bout £15m less iirc. But again, we didn't waste money on him as a backup for Kane.

That guy will have his pick of every club in the world next year and he's barely matured.
I'd bet my arse United will go in extremely hard next season. He's not gonna sign for Spurs now or any time soon. And he seems to be a clever boy, wherever he goes he'll get himself a sensible buyout clause.

I get what you're saying but there are specific metrics and consultancies out there that specialise in the commercial impact of things like the Messi signing. They can look at social reach, mentions, sentiment, volume of global news coverage, internet searches and trends, global TV audience, etc.

In fact the more I think about it, it's very easy to quantify and assign a value to it.

It's used to negotiate sponsorship deals and is very common place.

If it comes down to it I honestly would prefer this:

[FORMATION=4231, Lloris, Tomiyasu, Romero, Lacroix, Reguilon, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Bernardo Silva, Lo Celso, Son, Martinez, ][/FORMATION]

Than this:

[FORMATION=4231, Lloris, Tomiyasu, Romero, Sanchez, Reguilon, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Lucas, Lo Celso, Son, Kane ][/FORMATION]

I love Kane, and I want him to stay but if he wants to leave as badly as it looks and City are coming in with 130m+Silva AND we have Martinez as an option then there is a clear logical step.

IMO then we can give Skipp a year to grow in the midfield, we balance our finances, stock up the defence, bring in a few quality younger players and still have a bit of cash left over to have something in the tank for next year.

He’s also one of those strikers that’s always involved in play and looks dangerous if that makes sense? Goals aside, he’s an effective player
Lukaku wouldn't have scored a fair old chunk of his tally without him, the way they set up is Martinez runs off the ball creating space for Lukaku, Martinez also dropping deep into the 10 pocket (very Kane'esq).

He's not letting this go, is he?
I had never heard of him before the Martinez "scoop" so I suppose he is milking his 10 minutes of fame.
Jacob is a good reporter who very rarely breaks anything. Not sure if that means he has very few contacts, or if it means he’s extra picky about what he chooses to break, but he’s definitely not a bs artist (at least not compared to most of the clickbait hacks out there).

Even if Kane stays for this season then you have to think he is gone next summer. We should be getting ready for that now.

I agree. I totally agree. We should.
We won't, but we should.

If/when Kane goes a couple of strikers will come in

Yep. Just not the high profile ones we want.

Close. Mine are both dead👍👍

Conversation = shut down.

It almost feels as though the subsequent 24 hours of dismissal haven't happened

Agreed, how much is enough?? It’s all fucking Monopoly money at this point to him anyway… couldn’t spend his fortune in 5 lifetimes.

Indeed, and regardless how much money he has tucked away now, he would be able to live a life in wild luxury for the rest of his life, also after football, just by income from the brand that is his name.

Well like I said, we did the same thing with Kounde.

It's always going to be tough to persuade top players to come to Tottenham, not impossible but tough.
Oh of course, but the line re Kounde was always that he saw us as a backup to RM and the Chavs, while Sevilla were more keen on our offer because they wanted Sanchez.

Definitely going to be tough to convince top players, I agree, but with so much of Europe being screwed financially we may actually be on a decent footing for once.
