Reported for racism!

Bristol bum head - home of the shitty accent and Stephen lanky twat Merchant.

:tobyarm:

You normally post well so I’ll forgive it along with your nonsense opinion on Rodon. Don’t turn into Igula mark two. This place only needs one prick like that.

:dierpochhug:
That famous race...the Welsh!

And I'm not from Bristol, I was born by the sea in the South East.

So there

I do worry about his ability on the ball.

By all accounts he's super aggressive and should add some bollocks and organisation to our defence but what can he do in possession? Apparently quite a good passer but he's not a Vertonghen-esque dribbler so hopefully we can give him a good partner to work with.
It's not really a key skill for a CB though is it, dribbling that is?
If he's able to step out and pick a pass, that should be more than sufficient. What's more important is the midfield finding the space for him to pass into, even Hoddle would struggle to pick a pass if everyone is static or hiding.
Regardless, I'm more interested in how he marshals the defence. A good organiser and communicator can make relatively ordinary defenders look better. Look at what VVD did with a poor Liverpool defence, and even how good Dawson looked alongside King.

Just imagine if Romero is a flop after all this...

With the way teams are able to press I think that it is a needed skill. You don't have to be able to run through the whole team but you have to be comfortable with the ball at your feet or we get into trouble as we see with Sanchez and Dier.

Defenders that are limited giving the ball away close to goal leads to a lot of goals against.

Paratici thi

Paratici has taken him Juve and Tottenham I trust him he knows his reputation is on the line and some of the purchases he made at Juve no one knew who they were until they blew up. Plus he’s definitely better than our current CB no doubt about it, I watched him in Copa America and he was solid

He also loaned him to Atalanta with the low buy option.

To me that doesn't matter much but if you are basing your opinion on what Paratici did with him in the past then it is relevant.

I’m basing it on the season he just had, what I saw at the Copa America and the fact Paratici has purchased him for the second time at a different club. He has the required level of quality we need, to get defender of the year in Italy with the level of defenders in that league in a team that didn’t win the league is saying something

United went with the bigger name in Varane.
Chelsea want Kounde who is apparently slightly better than Romero.
City dont need a CB
Liverpool got Konate but arguably they could have gone in for him given their CB problems.
Woolwich have even less pull than us.
Leicester are shite.

I guess it's a matter of priority. Our biggest issue is at CB so we are willing to spend the bulk of our transfer kitty to get in a top player. I guess our rivals have prioritised other areas.

All European teams except PSG are broke and they went for Ramos so I think it's just good timing for us.
Don’t think so? DVD and Joe both back no?

If he’s that good wouldn’t he go somewhere for cl?

If CL is most important thing for him he would stay at Atalanta. They are already in the CL and more likely than us to qualify again for it next season. But with us he likely gets a big wage increase, is at a club with the potential to be much better long term, in a major city, gets major exposure as well.

I know that CL gets brought up as a reason for players to reject us but I think overall it is likely not the first consideration for most players.

I am not sure there is a club out there that offers him a better combination of wages, quality football, quality location and stability. While I think Levy has run us terribly and we are definitely at the bottom of the big clubs, we still are a big club and that still means something.
