Not a bad shout.. who would rival him? Did Busquets do enough out of possession to match him? Probably didn't get the same help that Casemiro was afforded by those around him as the years went on.

Souness to be fair to him always looks class when there's an old Liverpool game on the telly. Never saw enough of Makelele.
Makelele was incredible.

Holds nose, but Vieira? Suppose it depends on whether he's 'defensive' enough. You could say he was more box to box.

Prime kante better than all of them

Where are they getting all this funding?
It's actually quite smart considering the position they were in.

They had a squad that had to rely heavily on loans last year and being in the PL gets you a minimum of 86.5m (that's for bottom of the league) and on top of that, the parachute payments mean that if they were relegated, next season they would get 47.5m, the season after 38.9m and the 3rd season 17.3m, so this window will be potentially paid off in 2 to 3 seasons and that is the worst case scenario.

They have signed a mixture of young and experienced players and a mix of overseas players, PL experience and players who have excelled in the Championship (that they believe can make the step up), so even if they do go down, I bet they would back themselves to go straight back up again.

Overpaying is overpaying despite new cash coming in

Levy has been Levyed. If true.

Pretty much no bidders when Spurs 'sold' Dele to Everton for nix but future payments - but we get Dele's wages off the books

Everton moving him out on loan and an option to buy - but no mention of what % of Dele's wages Everton need to continue to pay. Very possibly Dele returns to Everton as Besiktas won't want to pay all of Dele's wages ....... but now its Everton's problem to try to shift hi again whilst still paying his wages

I think Levy/Spurs realise no or minimal fee will come in - big gain was to get rid of his wages by selling him not loaning him.

Its a calculated bet to improve their squad and either stat in PL this season (might be unlikely) or more likely get relegated but with good squad get back again.

Similar bet to Villa not selling Grealish to us for £25m/30m as new owners 'bet' that with Grealish in side they could get out of Championship into PL (worth say £150m versus selling Greaish for 25m). They got that bet right, got back into PL giving Grealish PL pedigree and persuaded ManCity to vastly over pay for Grealish.

Will Notts Forest also luck it out and win their bet ? No idea but odds don't look too bad ?

Nobody got Levy'd. We all got Dele'd. Oh well. Not as if we lost any money on him like Tanguy so all the best to him.

And if anybody is laughing about The Racists crying arm in arm with their gooner mates about banning a ref because he allowed four Spurs players to remain unmarked for a corner, have a look at where Dele is going:

Marcus Senna for a start.

Gibbs-White would be the only signing they will have overpaid for (Maybe Lingard from a wages perspective but offset by no transfer fee) and even then, it's only 25m upfront, up to 10m based on Forest avoiding relegation and the rest depends on Forest making Europe.

Also, Gibbs-White got 20 goals and assists in 35 games in the Championship last season, if he gets close to that in the PL, his price would double. It's a now or never signing for Forest.

Funny innit.... With most of these players it was "Get rid...... Give them away if necessary"...... Gets done and and now it's "LOL..... Fuck you baldy!".

Clubs know these players are not wanted by the club & manager, have shown no sort of form for a very long period of time & would be a burden if we were to keep them hanging around. Anyone expecting a big fee when you take those factors in to account are kidding themselves.

Getting their wages off the books and ensuring they don't take up HG spots is a priority. Fair play to Paratici/Levy/whoever for getting on with that.

How's that then ?
If they buy Dele for £7m , we get just shy of £3m and Everton get £4m
Everton have paid his wages for the last 7 months at approx £100k pw ,so around £3m , that leaves Everton with £1m , we get £3m. Who's better off ?
Dele was never going to play for us again and he hardly played for Everton.
We also saved another £3m in wages just to this point.
If Dele isn't wanted then Everton are stuck with him for another 18 months , paying his wages and desperately trying to loan or sell him again.
We are out of that now.
Levy/ Paratici pulled off a masterstroke

Casemiro is a great signing for United.

The greatest CDM in the history of club football.
Hope you are being sarcastic , he doesn't play with half the intensity of his younger days now. His legs are gone.

Typical ManU retirement home style signing, his mega wages is going to sink that joke of a club even deeper

He’s still a good player and will be a big improvement for their terrible midfield, but spending 65 million and paying 350K per week for him is a classic United move.
