Defence not backline
Squad not roster

Sorry to be a pedant and I welcome the international community to our sport and league but I really dislike the use of language that has never ever applied to football in this country. It was always squad and defence, the other terms such as roster didn't ever exist in any way, shape or form when it came to football.

Please respect our terminology and use it. Thanks.
It's "defense" :p

Right after he bulked last summer, and, sadly got pelters for highlighting his physiology may suffer carrying such bulk…

Oh well, the odd poster(s) get it.

Aside from the initial strain that put him out last summer, the problem that kept him out was an infection.... This summer, a gash on his foot from another players stud.

Nothing to do with bulking up.

Yep. Backline though?
Backline has been used a fair bit; obviously the most common is back 4, but the "(whatever team) backline" is something I have heard a lot ever since I can remember (my first live game in attendance was in 94, I'm a child of the premier league).

Having said that, never pass up an opportunity to tell a septic how to talk proper, like what we do!

Tottenham Hotspur set to sign South American defender in £41m deal

Following a hugely impressive debuting season last time out, Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to trigger a £41m clause in Cristian Romero’s contract which would see him become a permanent addition.

I wonder if this could get interesting. La Liga refusing to register players until Barcelona puts into action its financial plan of selling off players, reducing wages bill and then being allowed to sign new players at a fraction of transfer fees received and wage s reduced.

My understanding of this is that if the club fail to register Kessie or Christensen by the official start of the La Liga season, they can walk as they were signed on a free when out of contract.

I think he means the first year as a loan + the 5 once it is permanent makes it pretty much a 6 year deal.

Which might be why we hold off on activating the Kulusevski deal until next summer… then we’d have him under contract for 6.5 years.

I think the way it works is that if a 12 (or 18 month loan for Kulusevski) is agreed with either an option or an obligation, a proforma contract is agreed with both club and player such that if the option/obligation is exercised all parties know the terms of the player transfer.

In Romero's case it might be a 12 month loan followed by a 4 or 5 year contract (logically we'd have asked for the longer 5 year contract) With Kulusevski as the loan could be exercised after 6 months, its less clear if it would be a contract for either 4 years or 5 years.

And on top of that we might have agreed a club option for a further year.

About as clear as mud re contract length, although might be announced (if e are lucky) when both Romero and Kulusevski (next summer ?) permanent signing is announced

This.... ^^^

Would be chaos otherwise.

Bang on...also if you call the changing rooms the 'locker room' the death penalty should be mandatory.
