Looks like Gordon is going to Chelsea, which is fine.

There are many other players we should be looking at to replace Gil. If we can’t find the perfect one to spend a big fee on then a loan for the Atalanta guy would make sense, similar to how we failed on Bastoni and brought Lenglet instead. We shouldn’t spend big just for the sake of it.

We're not going to get the Atalanta guy on loan. He has one year left on his contract.

2 players per position. Of course the more flexible/versatile players are at playing in multiple positions the easier it is for Conte.

So Davies and Lenglet as LCB.

Persic and Sessegnon as LWB

Kane, Son, Kulusevski, Richarlison, Moura - 5 players for 3 positions is one short.
According to reports we're after another forward now that Gil has moved away.

So what was al the prior fuzz about shuffling deck-chairs all about???? 🤷‍♂️

You didn't note the following part of my post?

"R-FWD: Kulu > Lucas > ????(*)"

(*)What do you think that denotes?

.......Unless your point is we need another CF?

We'll see how good Paratici is in the next 9 days. Having to deliver likely 2 players, one who probably has to be homegrown, while clubs like Chelsea, Utd, Goons, probably Liverpool are looking to do more is not going to be easy. Lets hope this isnt his Nelson and Saha or Raziak moment and he can pull off another Kulusevski out of nowhere.
That won't happen but if it does that would ensure that Conte does not sign a new contract.

The aim is to end up with the most improved squad we can get to within the constraints of available players etc

So yes we could play Richarlison in a position which is clearly his 3rd choice, but that's not a great solution.

Moura is a mix between a striker and winger - but the key issue is his lack of productivity in terms of assists and goals. No comparison with Kulusevski so he's not really a viable back, imo he's the 6th choice forward simply because we cannot change out everyone in a single window.

So what we want is someone with a lot better goal involvements (especially assists) who is happy to play RW as Kulusevski rotation option to improve the squad - and become our 5th rated forward.

Of the candidates being bandied round atm Malinovsky, looks like the best choice in terms of g/a - not fantastic but not bad. Very happy if we can improve on him though

Once more - if issue is Moura being not productive enough - NONE of the recent options fix it.
Malinovski, Zaniolo, Traore nor Gordon would fix that.

Last season Moura had 2 goals and 6 assists in EPL; Malinovski 6+5 that is just 3 goal involvements more and it was in different league. That does not seem to be worth it.

I think much better aim is to keep squad optimal and not lock ourselves in with panic buys. In the future we will have to pay them salaries and write off much of the purchase value. If there is not clear and obvious upgrade and same situation can be solved with some shifts, it's also pretty decent outcome.

P.S and as someone mentioned - if really needed we could put Doherty or Spence to RW if really needed. Bigger squad for sake of having bigger squad is bad goal to have.

Could do a damned sight worse and not expensive at £25m.
I know £25m seems as not expensive, but consider how much we would get for him, if we needed to move him on. Outside the PL there are a handful of teams that can afford a £15m signing, let alone £25m. And that's not even factoring in salary.

If we are going to bid for him or any player that is a punt, then I think we should bid what we would expect to get for him right now from another team if he was our player, even if we can afford a higher price.

I think we will need to agree to disagree on many of your points then

Ismaila Sarr is the definition of mediocre streaky player. In a top league he'll give you a handful of good performances a season.

Traore
ASM
