A top striker who didn't even score 10 non-penalty goals last season?
Juventus are horrendous and he was injured a good deal of the time.

In fact, his injury record is a valid reason to steer clear. But he's absolutely a good striker. I'm not saying he's incredible; but he has the basic requirements to succeed. He also works his bollocks off, is good in the air and would suit Ange. He may well also have the type of personality he is looking for.

As I say, I'm not fussed if we don't get him. But categorically no one in a position to say that a player like Orban will succeed and this fella wouldn't.

People were having fits about us not buying Alex Scott but what's funny is, Devine has played next to Scott in the England juniors set ups for years (from u17 all the way up to u19 and u20 major tournaments) and by all accounts, has been the slightly better player of the two, or at least equal, despite being a year younger.

Give this kid a couple years in the championship and I think we may just find that we have our own Scott.

I’d rather not spend a massive amount on a decent striker that has limited potential.

Not unless they are offering what he's worth which is now the cost of a replacement because he's taking up an important squad position.

I doubt Barca have 50m to offer.

They want to send us cast-offs.

Straight swap Ansu Fati, maybe.
They probably want to do a straight swap or nearly as like for Lenglet.
I’ve absolutely come to hate the club although I love the city. Espanyol it is!!

We were clearly stringing him along as a backup option in case we didn't sell Kane and didn't have actual money for a second CB.
Or couldn’t get the players we wanted.
I’d like to think that this is the final nail in the coffin of this rumor but until we permanently clear out some surplus center backs and bring in another or Lenglet signs elsewhere then I think it will persist with some possibility of happening.

Lenglet this summer has been like one of those corny old horror films, just when you think you've finished the vampire/mummy/zombie off you see its hand twitching.

Really? I mean I don't know much about the financials of either, but I would have thought that surely the financials of football are miniscule compared to those of oil? :/

That's why it's diversification not replacement.

Oil is going to take 50 years to phase out, if we ever really can.

Football clubs are very profitable from an investment POV.

How much did ENIC make on Spurs if they sold it now? It's in the billions and that's pure profit.

Amazing isnt it. I didnt know much about him when we signed him other than the hype and it literally took a 3 minute search of his name to see he had had attitude, laziness and time keeping problems through most of his career. Hitchen was meant to be a French football expert at the time as well.
But he was brilliant against City in the UCL.
I guess the scouting department thought he would mature and/or Poch thought he could nurture him regardless.
True clusterfuck!
