It's multiple factors, including poor decision making by ENIC.
But what not enough people will say is it's the wage bracket of our signings that is almost certainly what is holding us back, if not actually sending us backwards. And I strongly believe this is because a fee isn't as much of a liability as wages are.
Are Arse in the wrong wage bracket too?
Wages p/a:
22/23 - Arse 103.5m / THFC 110.4m
21/22 - Arse 93.9m / THFC 89.7m
20/21 - Arse 128.7m / THFC 129.1m
19/20 - Arse 115.4m / THFC 93.1m
Arse = Total 441.5m
THFC = Total 422.3m
You were literally just complaining about people making stuff up:
It's like arguing with a flat earther or antivaxer. They just make shit up to keep arguing despite all the evidence.

You can theoretically sell a player and write off their remaining wages.
Or get stuck with them cos they're over-paid.....
Ndombele, GLC, Aurier, Lamela (according to his critics)...... (All signs point to zero trf fee recouped too)
Or for a little Man U flavour: De Gea, Sancho, Martial, Maguire......
