Richie is done. His head ain't in the game and I suspect he and we are looking to part ways.
If he doesn't go AND we sign Toney, he'd be well out of the picture.
I'm not sure 2 penalties a season makes much difference to the goals for column tbh. :roflmao:

If Richy is here, he will score more goals than Toney.

Take pens and FKs out of Toney's record and he's never been prolific. Loads of nice touches and decent hold up play from the long ball for a counter attack team but like I said, take the 9 penalties and 2-3nFKs he scored out of his best season and Rich was more prolific last year despite having a terrible injury record.

Now, If Richy is going then we need to be aiming MUCH higher than Ivan Toney for our frontline #9.

Imo Toney ends up at UTD as Hojlund's back up.

We’ll never be able to complete with others until Levy and ENIC are gone and the sooner the better.

Levy / ENIC fan reading this.....

According to Spurs Web we're after Kristjan Asllani with the possibilty of sending Dragusin the other way as part of the deal.

Dragusin’s agent is probably already agitating for a move from Inter because he hasn’t played enough.

So Villa get 25m plus Enzo + Illing Jr for Douglas Luiz. Great deal tbh. Don't know what Juve are up to.

Its a much better deal than the one that included McKennie that's for sure.

I rate Douglas Luiz but Barrenechea has a very high ceiling and in Emerys system and his coaching he could end up being alot better. Iling Jr is a bit of an unknown quantity but I think depth is depth, I'd have taken him here as Udogie back up.

He plays for Brentford.
Judge him on playing for a team that actually has the ball in the front 3rd of the pitch occasionally.

It wouldn't surprise me if this sort of thing was more common place than you realise. IE, buying a player with little intention of using him, for the main reason of sending him on to another team to do another deal.

Clive Allen to Woolwich for example.
He was signed from QPR with the intention of sending him to Palace in exchange for Kenny Sansom. The reason being QPR would not sell Allen to Palace as a (then) rival. And Palace wouldn't let Sansom go to Woolwich until they could get Allen.

For many years, my (naive) dad thought it was because boring Woolwich thought Allen wasn't defensive minded enough. It was transfer chess.
And it's probably one of the reasons there is a ban on players playing for more than 3 teams a season now.

I actually think Levy pulled this stunt with Zeki Fryers too. He was close to joining us on a free, subject to compensation due as a youth player at United. Levy wouldn't stump up, so he went abroad on a totally free transfer. For 6 months, then came to Spurs on a free.

I believe this sort of thing is more common than most believe.

Unless Dragusin himself kicks up a fuss, he ain't going anywhere this summer. He's on higher wages at Spurs than he'd be at Inter to begin with...and probably knows that as soon as Cuti is off, he's our starting RCB.

Inter will sign Calafiori, I reckon. Acerbi, De Vrij and Darmian are getting on a bit, Pavard has had his injury troubles. That way they'd have Italy's CB pairing playing for them.

Or judge him on having a skill set and profile suited to a team that doesn’t have the ball.

We need energy, pressing without the ball and pace up front.
I feel like we need someone that can take a half chance. Next season, a lot of teams will sit deep and cede possession to us. Even some of the better ones. Most of them are going to hump it long to prevent anyone in our front line pressing and winning the ball back.
That template is set, I'd be shocked if anyone does anything other than that unless they're absolutely convinced they good enough to play their own game and not get caught out. Woolwich, maybe City but even City were fairly happy to stand off at our place recently.

I don't think Richie is the sort of player to consistently score with half chances when we finally get into good scoring positions. And even if h did, I don't think he'll reliably play week in week out.

Yeah I don't agree at all there tbh.

I don't think he'd start more games than Richy. Also don't see him scoring more goals with Sonny taking pens.

For the record, I don't think Toney is a superstar or anything.
I just think in terms of actual, attainability, he's up there. We're not going out and getting a world class striker.

If we aren’t getting a world class striker then get one that has the ability to develop into one.

We can’t complain at the club for not being ambitious and then be happy with them signing bang average players because they are attainable
