This is not going to get any better with more PP's to come and without an extension to the season, no International break or playing the matches at the beginning of next season there is no fair way the season will be completed.

The vaccine is the game changer. By the end of February, pretty much everyone who is likely to die from Covid will be vaccinated. There’s no reason why we can’t go back to watch football then.

Honestly, with a bit of decisiveness and compromise from all parties in these challenging times, we could quite easily play Fulham on Tue instead of Villa.

A sensible and elegant solution. Will it happen? Will it fuck.

Now to work out when we'll get to play Fulham, Aston Villa and, due to double fixture dates, Everton, Southampton and Aston Villa again hahaha! Go....

I think they'll make the European knockouts one legged ties. No advantage or disadvantage due to no fans.

Frees up space later on.

UEFA would argue 'why should we loose sponsorship monies to allow the FA to gain sponsorship monies'

UEFA would also argue 'why should we loose sponsorship monies of our Euro 2020 competition to allow the FA to gain sponsorship monies from extending their league schedule'

FIFA would argue 'don't worry, the arabs are giving us all brand new beamers'

"Ceferin is not concerned that removing the number of knockout games could have a significant financial impact on UEFA"
I mean, it essentially halves the number of matches that would be shown on television, in the rounds most people want to watch.

Hard to see how it wouldn't have a somewhat impactful amount of money brought in.

We'll see. I mean, that was reported last summer. Something has to give, it's down to who is going to loose [ LEGO Boy LEGO Boy ] money. Common sense rarely trumps finance.

If it was us and we had Kane, Son and some more out with Covid you would say that it’s not fair, or that the FA are a bunch of corrupt cunts for giving the green light, etc.

This.

If we lost 5 key players (Hojbjerg, Lloris, Kane, Son, Ndombele) just for example and we were told we HAD to go ahead with a game. We'd be up in arms and saying how Man City got their game called off, so why can't we!?

That set the precedent, unfortunately.

That game absolutely should have been forfeited and Everton awarded the points. It wasn't. And now going forward if a team wants a game calling off, it'll happen.

Sheff Utd had players with COVID the other week. They went ahead. Probably because they are desperate for points and couldn't do with a fixture pile up.

Fulham had 4 or 5 players out (out of a 25 man squad) and wanted it called off. Whereas we had two players with COVID for the same game and were happy to go ahead.

What happens to International football and Europe competitions will depend on the situation in all the major Countries and not just us. Are German, Spanish and Italian matches getting PP. If not it is an English problem.
