We brought in Thomas Frank as our manager who's best known for working off a low budget. If we didn't back the likes of Conte and Mourinho with big money signings and matching the wages of top cubs, then you'll be very naive to think that this is going to be the plan under Frank.
I'll bet my life that we don't sign one player in this window who will be earning wages above 200k a week. That means that we can't compete with other big clubs when targetting these players. These are just facts. We might change some day but it won't be this summer! Frank will be giving 3/4 signings max and we'll be very lucky if 2 of them cost more than 50m.
Feel free to live in your fantasy world but if you haven't got it from these past 20 odd years I guess you never will.

He should have been out of Palace by now, arguably the best player outside the top 6, homegrown, Prem proven, great character and an unbelievable talent and entering his peak - this is a Liverpool/City level signing.
That up front release clause is putting teams off I think.
He is left footed but plays either side. He was on loan at PSV for a season and i think played right side all season, seems to be more split at Everton. Actions speak louder than words. I've heard it all before from Levy. For me, the Frank appointment shows where his mind still is. A safe bet who can compete with a lesser budget which makes me think our budget will still be well below the other big 6 clubs. Prove me wrong Levy. Lets see us outspend Woolwich, City and Liverpool? Won't happen.
