You can’t understand why 30 year old Palhinha on loan is a cut price option, even despite the wages? I mean this to say, is this a semantics issue, or do you just genuinely not get it?
Cut-price deal is fair here bc he was signed for £55m last summer and Bayern have now literally cut his price in half, including a buy option for half that fee. They’ve clearly been doing everything they can to get rid and the buy option would see them lose £30m in value.
So, yes, this is an opportunistic deal with us getting a ready-now 6, as opposed to the proper quality long term solutions which have been rumoured like Baleba/Wharton. It doesn’t mean it’s a bad deal, but it does mean it’s a cut price deal.

Utd surely have to wait and see if they can actually get a fee for one of their players before splashing £70-80m on Sesko, for all the talk of Garnacho, Diallo, Sancho and Mainoo likely being available for the right fee, there hasn't been a sniff at one of their players, getting Rashford's wages (or whatever % of them Barca are covering) alleviates some pressure but still just kicking the can down the road, maybe they have asked Sesko to wait until either the end of the window or next summer and Newcastle are offering too much for him to agree?
The best part of this argument is that, had we signed Wharton, you could have just as easily flip it round and lambast Levy for going for the low wage young unproven player yet again - and many would have done just that.

I wouldn't be making such sweeping statements based off one season of evidence tbh, I rate Wharton but when Guehi and Eze are gone and he's trying to make a team tick with a shakier defence behind him and a worse midfield in front of him he might not look so much like a £100m player this time next summer.
Still slightly annoyed we never tried to do a deal for Jonathan David, incredibly consistent goalscorer with all the attributes to do well in PL, Juve got him on a very cheap deal when considering they paid something like a 13.5m euro signing on fee and have him on £200k a week, an incredibly cheap deal if he can replicate his Lille form at his next club, really does make me think we are eager to avoid going over around £150k/week unless bonuses are heavily involved and whenever a player has a choice between that and guaranteed money we will always be 2nd fiddle.
