I agree that we need a midfield passer, someone with some creativity. We needed that before Maddison’s injury.

I just know what people are like, desperate to sign player X because they’re the in vogue treat. Simons does seem promising but he’s been in negotiations with Chelsea for weeks so I’m not sure we’re about to hijack that.

I rate Paulinho too... (blasphemy!)

He was just a wrong player in a wrong team. For all the nonsense thats laid at his feet, he did score 8 goals in 37 games in his first season. For a midfielder thats a great return. Its just he is a wrong type and we didnt need him at that time. He was not technically good - we just assumed he should have been...Instead of playing to his strengths we misused him. He didnt last 2 seasons in the end. After his chinese stint, he went to Barcelona & then scored 9 goals in a season...
