Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Sometimes being in a good team and around good players motivates people.

Look at Casimero's drop off at united. People just get fed up.

You need to buy good players to get that momentum going. I agree its a risk, but I also think people discard good players because they are close to 30. For every Sonny there is a Modric or Salah.
True - though I'm not discarding anyone over 30 really. Players low-mid 30's are still excellent.

You'd have to back up the Sane deal with 2/3 other experienced top level pro's to raise the floor - i just dont think we'll be doing that. More than happy to be proved wrong.

CM is a position where players often struggle to replicate their form when jumping to the EPL.

IMO he still represents a punt and thus 20m + deep scouting ought to get us someone perceived to have a higher ceiling.

.....Is he really gonna tick a box that can't be covered by Benta & Sarr?

Thing with this is that there's little motivation for Betis to drive a hard bargain when the fruit of that will only get passed over to us...... They're no worse off accepting 20m as they are getting 35 and handing the diff. to us. If anything; the lower amount likely assures a quicker deal and probably more agreeable payment terms.

That said; I'd just draw in whatever % we can from him and assess the total kitty alongside other projected player incomes (i.e. sales).

We're averaging 120-150m (net) according to TFMkt and thus far showing 20m (gross) for this summer.

140m/150m gross is probably a better indicator - other than Kane we've sold no players who got us much cash. Lo Celso for £4m being one.

This year I'd expect the same sort of money (including fees for Solomon, Hojbjerg, Gil etc, less obligation to buy Danso) plus any transfer fees from the sale of players in the squad this season which increases the available transfer fund - but with players to sell such as Bissouma maybe fetching £15m/£20m and Richarlison (if he goes) maybe £40m, I'd be struggling to get it to much more than £200m.

IMO we need two good forwards (Tel is a prospect not a good forward ) who can cover CF and wings between them , and they will probably take up majority of funds, even if we get someone like Delap or Jonathan David who are the lower priced strikers available. So whilst we need a midfielder to replace Bissouma, price is also a factor and I think we have to supplement buying with some of our own youth

Watch him closely and you might not agree. When he’s on it he can be electric but when I’ve seen him this season he makes so many wrong decisions in the final third. Don’t get me wrong he’s a million times better than what we’ve got. His pace is still incredible
Watched him a lot last season under tuchel and ended up really disliking him. Wasn't passing to Kane at all and always making the wrong decisions.

TBF I think there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes. The Sane talk is just rubbish, its only his own agent leaking rumours to the media in order to get him the most money possible. Lange and Paratici will run a tight ship and will be trying to avoid any of these media driven transfer sagas.

Way too early to panic. I imagine we'll have a decision made on Ange early next week and then we'll pull the trigger on some signings in June. If we still have no clarity on Ange's situation by late next week then I'll start to get worried but the transfer window isn't even open yet!

In practice most managers go off on holidays if they can for about 3 weeks after season ends - and that's simply because pre-season starts 1 July and they need to be back a week or two before then to get ready, hire assistant coaches etc.

There's always a handful of deals which are waiting for end of the season to get done (some that failed to get done n January), but most deals don't get done until late June (at earliest) .

Unfortunately many fans think 'season's ended lets get going on transfer window' whereas the managers need a break now as its the only time in the year they can.

The disrespect Romero gets is insane. Even his leadership qualities are so underrated. This false narrative that he's some loose cannon who thinks he's better than Spurs.

He hasn't had a red card in over 18 months. He captained us in the Europa League final and got MOTM in the same game. He also got player of the tournament! Yet some fans don't rate him, think he's a liability, think we'll be lucky to get 50m for him and think Guehi from Palace would be an upgrade?

Honestly the disrespect some Spurs player get on here is worse than anything you'd hear from rival fans. Romero was so clutch in that Europa League final. The way he marched the team past the United players down to the Spurs end for the huddle before kick off. The way he gathered the whole team in a huddle before going in at half time. He stepped up. Against all the chaos, against all the Tottenham history of choking finals, Romero was the coolest customer in Bilbao last week. Respect him.
