It really is about wages when it comes to us. If we are in for a player and Man Utd are in for the same player he goes to Man Utd. Not because Man Utd is a better option or deemed to be a bigger club it’s because of money and the big gap in the offers. Man Utd will offer a lot more per week.
It’s not just what the players want,it’s what their families and agents want too. We just won’t compete with the big boys.

Again I get the fact we don't pay as much as the big boys, my point is that not every player is going to go down the money route.

As I said not every player is motivated by money.

Woolwich's last chance for me.
It does feel that way. In an earlier post someone remarked that Liverpool, City, and Woolrich would be certainties for the first three and everyone else is fighting for one spot. But, I feel like in any year one of the teams that seems a sure bet will stumble some. City wasn't City last season. Liverpool is so consistent I think they will be sure footed, and City just is too deep to fall too years in a row. But this is a sort of make or break season for Woolrich. It feels as if Arteta has pushed his style and project as far as they can go. They shouldn't be awful, but unless they get a catalyst type player in I think they have peaked and will start to regress.

Us not having a single dedicated defensive midfielder, is our weakest area big time.

After that, i would say fullbacks that can actually defend.
We’d never
Totally agree. Signing both Cunha and Mbeumo only made sense if they were selling Bruno. Otherwise I struggle to see a formation where they can get their 4 best players on the pitch together at the same time (Bruno, Amad, Cunha, Mbeumo) without moving 2 of them out of position. They all want to play in them two 10 roles. Moving Cunha/Mbeumo to the 9, Bruno into a deeper midfield role or Amad to full back would just make them players lose faith in the manager.

£££££££££££££££££££ is why

They pay a shedload in wages.
Surely the correct and mostly played for both Cunha and Mbeumo is right sided attack.I know they can play along the line but right sided attack attack is their best position.

I agree ref not every player being money motivated , most are though look at Saudi league. I think a player who is not money motivated as you allude to will need to be able to control his agent but it does happen . I am hopeful rather than confident we get him , but there is a chance I think .

If most players were money motivated then most players would be playing in the Saudi League.

They fucked themselves paying £105m for Rice, he's a good player sure but honestly the mental gymnastics them lot do to make him out to be the second coming of Jesus Christ while their general play degrades to the level of the West Ham team he left as they try to shoehorn him into it is ridiculous, I don't think they were screaming out for a Rice type player before he joined, think if they'd have spent that money on a striker they would have pissed the league last season. Luckily Arteta seems a stubborn fucker determined to ignore perceived wisdom and spunk £65m trying to horse whisper Kai Havertz into a world class false 9.

With us likely to lose Son and given both Mbeumo and Semenyo are rumoured to cost circa £70m each, Mbeumo has to be first choice on the following grounds:

- a Frank favourite
- proven goal scorer and assists
- a clear better G/A return to Semenyo
- he’s a wide forward whereas Semenyo is more of a wide attacking midfielder
- Frank at Brentford played wide forwards as opposed to wingers

Knowing us, we’ll sign Semenyo 🤣
Logically we need new players on right amd left. Mbeumo and Johnson on the right. If Son goes we have Odebert and possibly Tel on the right. Would not mind Eze or Semenyo on the left.

I think Saudi have the money but the lifestyle is the issue , so that feeds into the money argument partly.

However PL club offer 400k a week another PL club offers 250k I reckon 9 out of 10 times the 400 k a week club get their man.

I could have worked in Saudi a few years ago, but wild horses wouldn’t be able to drag my wife there

Isn't that my point lol - that is literally a factor as to why players may not want to move.
