The results speak for themselves. We'll be better off in the league because Frank is a better coach. We've won no less against Woolwich and chelsea so far than we did under ange. So let's give frank 2 years and see if he can atleast muster a point vs either of them. I stated at the start of the season We'll be better off overall because Frank is a better coach but with this team it still won't be great.

He's got work to do to prove himself but I trust over the season he'll come up with a bit more than it's who we are mate or we gotta go out and play our football. Unless we go in to absolute free fall and end up somewhere near where we was last season he should get a season atleast. Calling to sack him because you (not you personally) didn't want the last manager sacked is ridiculous imo.
Stopped reading at "Frank is a better coach"

Better than a gold fish maybe...

Agree with Jamie Carragher for once!

"The one negative so far under Thomas Frank is can he go from being a pragmatic coach and trying to make it difficult for the opposition as he tried to do here."It's more about how are they going score? How are they going to win a game? I can keep going back to the underlying numbers and the xG. It's very low."Even after watching the first five minutes of the game you're thinking 'what are Tottenham going to do here to hurt Woolwich?'"That is the problem with every manager making a jump to a top team. You've got to have more than just trying to stop the opposition. That's not having a go at Thomas Frank. The top managers are there for a reason."They are special, they are elite. It's because they can coach teams to be difficult to beat at times, but also they can coach teams to win games. That is the big difference. If you don't get that right, you won't be in a job that long."

He's right. The numbers and xg are very low and they're starting to bear out now.

Can Frank coach us to attack fluidly, interchanging with cute passes between the lines...the required off the ball movement?

That's what's going to keep him in the job. If we start to see signs of that but so far we've seen very little. Yes we've players out but he has to find solutions and attempt to do this.

To dare is to do...no?

Carragher basically saying he's on borrowed time.

Anyway - while the Ange Derangers continue to cocoon themselves against reality, normal fans should try and understand what is happening and where we might go from here.

Frank is NOT a bad manager. He's a very very competent manager. He's dealing with a meh squad and injuries upfront so his answer has been to bypass midfield, stop playing football and rely on our strength (Back 5) to even up the contest.

It's not working. Clearly. Our offensive numbers are... catastrophic. And we are no better defensively than last season.

I worry that, rightly or wrongly, the players don't like him or his football and are pissed off that they won a European trophy and yet now are being told they are shit and have to play shit football just to survive.

How do we get out of this rut? The only answers seem to be to play football. I tend to agree but we have to accept that this comes with risk and and we might get turned over quite brutally in some games. But this might be a price worth paying to see some green shoots of actual football on the pitch?
The two lowest recorded XG's in the history of the PL in the space of 3 games but Frank is NOT a bad manager... Laughable!!!

Next Saturday against Fulham will be huge for him. It'll be a game where we'll be expected to dominate and win. He has to win that game. I'm not even sure if an ugly win is enough. It'll need to be emphatic to win over the fans

There is no perfect manager but it seems as if many think there is one. Glasner isnt perfect, Iraola isnt perfect and whoever else is being considered isnt perfect.

We had Ange for two seasons, one of if not the most inept manager the PL has ever seen. A few seem to have been in a deep coma of how successful he has been at Nottingham. The ownership and including his managerial style here created a clusterfuck of a squad, atmosphere and ethic.

Frank will need months to fix this. Half of the current squad is not up for PL standards, let alone CL stands. There is a handful of decent footballers and a giant mountain of dross.

Romero isnt the unit you all fucking think he is.
Spence will never be professional enough for this level.
Bentancur speaks for himself.
Johnson is shit.
Richarlison is shit.

These are the players which are not up to it and are long overdue to be sold. A few others are disappointing as well.

And yes the young kids are here but you cant start them in the derby. Embarassing how shit the ones with experience are to be honest. Frank will realize this soon enough.

New manager wont solve shit. The standard of this squad is laughable BUT Ange probably made them even worse during his tenure.
What about Kudus, Palhinha, RKM, Tel on a perm and Simons... all as shit as the players you mentioned but you decided to leave them out. Why? Is it because they are his players!!! Frank couldn't fix a Columbian second division match... he needs putting out of his misery and quickly.

I really hope he can turn it around, however like many managers before him he is dealing with years of Squad neglect , still lets be honest, we have a better squad than he had at Brentford, the pressure will be on him next home game and I hope he thrives on it and we see some of this attacking football he likes.
We've got a better squad than all PL teams bar, City, Woolwich, Dippers, Chavs and Newcastle... I wouldn't swap our squad for any of the other 14 and don't anyway tell me Villa and United have better squads. They don't... with the Dippers imploding and Newcastle struggling with the weekend/midweek grind, this season was an opportunity to finish top four/five...

Tell me you don't understand stats without telling me you don't understand stats... ;)

The xG table has proven season after season to be a reasonable proxy for actual points tally, so to call it 'bollox' simply suggests that you don't understand it, and therefore don't accept it. Of course the game is about talent, but underlying stats do provide some clues as to how much talent a player or team has, and how effectively it is being utilised. I'm not saying it should be used in isolation, and I'm most certainly not saying that stats alone should be used to decide which players we sign, I'm simply saying that it is definitely not 'bollox', it is one of a range of useful tools that can and should be used to analyse players and teams (including, of course, the "eye test"). Just because you either don't like it, or don't understand it, or both, doesn't change it's effectivenes, and completing ignoring / rubbishing underlying stats is just as stupid as ignoring the eye test. ;)
Top left corner of your screen... that is the only stat that matters... XG is not just bollocks it's utter bollocks but I will absolutely use it to batter Frank

Those numbers are not reflective of his history as a manager so I tend to see them as aberration - at least until more data is available.

I fully understand that others are not so patient, however. :D

But they do though. So I will tell you that.

He had to leave Brentford eventually and take his chance at a top team. He interviewed for Chelsea and United last Summer but didn't get either job. Spurs this summer probably felt like the right time for him. No other top English team were looking for a manager.

Its a very tough job. Near impossible as the expectations are we should be competing for titles when we are years away from that being a reality. So in the meantime you have to bridge that gap while also keeping supporters onside. Winning derby games would be the best way to do that! That's how Arteta bought time. He won an FA cup early on but he always made sure his teams performed against Spurs and Chelsea. They were a mess for years, losing many poor games at home where they looked clueless on the ball. But they nearly always showed up against spurs and chelsea and that keeps supporters onside.

But the reaility is, Frank is failing and showing himself to be out of his depth. Managing lower table teams and making them hard to beat seems to be his speciality and unfortunately he is beginning to look like a one trick pony. Nearly 4 months into the season now and I don't think we've properly dominated any game of football or looked like a top team on the ball.
Chelsea picked Leicester's manager and United pick Amorim... that says it all really!!!

They shouldn't have started together so many times. Taking one of them off at 60th minute is wasting 60 minutes already. For me our best game was the first of the season with none of them playing, and it still is.

They are more suited for European game. So when we see them against PSG and suddenly we look good, Frank will assume it's all rosy and start them back together again on weekend against Fulham. Fuck me.
yep, the lineup against burnley was refreshing, i really thought frank was going to be a lot different. its weird cos we won that 3-0 playing a bunch of kids who have energy and a bit of ability on the ball....why has he not trusted them again? strange.

The cost of hiring him and his coaches and firing them while we sit mid table and five points off second means it won’t happen.

We are pissed off with things and are rightly moaning about it but the manager will be going nowhere this season. Of that I’m fairly confident unless we lose match after match.

One thing that does concern me is his players’ attitude towards him. They don’t seem to respect him.
They know

Not capable of changing. His football is archaic and this experiment needs to end soon so we can bring a new manager in and he can use the rest of another wasted season to evaluate the squad. There are a few good players in there. This manager is failing those players miserably.

'Not capable of changing'

Players out:
Solanke
Maddison
Kulu
Bissouma
Kudus

Three twenty year old's on the bench, and PSG coming up this week.

All out, what changes would you have made pray tell?

Frank said this week that he still doesn't know his best starting eleven and likely won't until the injured players return.

You talk of bringing in another manager?

To do what with the players at his disposal?

'There are a few good players in there'

Correct and even better players out injured, a new manager who has had a single transfer window, but you want him gone "soon".

Incredible stupidity, who would you bring in, given those circumstances that would make an immediate impact?

What we witnessed on Sunday was a Woolwich side, who's directors had given their manager six seasons three of which were poor.

Not surprising that many in here want Pochettino back, a manager who was with us for five seasons not four months.

Grow up FFS
