Ex-Spurs Player Tim Sherwood

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Really don't know how I feel about this one. OK, we know he likes 2 up front but has he got the credentials to take us forward in the next 18 months.

I will give him my full backing regardless (until he starts doing shite).

This isn't really a surprise. Players will be more responsive to a real manager than an interim one who they know will be gone in a few months. If Sherwood gets us CL, he'll get another year (or more) to prove himself - and honestly, he'll deserve that. If not, we'll have a lot of good options after the season and world cup.

He doesn't even hold a UEFA B licence required for the job, I guess Spurs will apply for an extension. He is now in the company of these wonderful Managers who also didn't hold a Licence when appointed Managers Glen Roeder, Gareth Southgate, Avram Grant and Paul Ince anyone else worried about this president?

I will get behind him as I have done every manager in the past, but I have to say the omens are all against him. Please Sherwood be good.

Not that it matters one bit...

There are two readings to Sherwood's promotion. The first is underpinned by joined-up-thinking and no little romance. Having been brought into the first-team coaching set-up on a part-time basis by the former manager Harry Redknapp in October 2008, he has worked to establish himself and to obtain his coaching badges – he completed his Uefa A and B licenses under the auspices of the Football Association of Wales.

Bottom line: I'm sure Sherwood wouldn't sign a six month contract, and this means we couldn't get anyone else of sufficient quality in right now. Anyway there's nothing stopping us sacking him in the summer. Or giving him an extension. This approach makes sense in light of limited options.
and a six month contract would make it difficult for him to have any real authority with the players - would basically set him up to fail whatever. So makes a lot of sense actually.
And there isn't any reason why he can't turn out to be brilliant. We'll just have to see and hope that this turns out to be magic.

Tim has my full support, but it makes you realise Levy hadn't a clue what he was doing when he fired AVB. To make a play like this and risk our entire season is just a reckless gamble.

If Sherwood gets us CL footy it will be a miracle and he'll deserve a Mike Ashley style contract....

Why are people thinking that Sherwood will necessarily get all 18 months?
If he does poorly, Levy WILL sack him.

I just think this is a way to make a few parties happy, without calling Sherwood a stop gap for someone like LvG (and simultaneously giving Sherwood a bit of a chance).

The only thing of Sherwood that I wish ... is hopefully he isn't too naive ... i.e. his Gung Ho approach being his downfall, like it was for a similar Ossie (as a manager).

Not a popular decision but better to set something in stone than stay in limbo over the xmas period. I see the 18 month contract as more of a 6 month audition, he can't be on that much money and Levy probably has clauses in there to cut Tim off at the end of the season if he doesn't impress.

As fans we have to get behind the manager and hopefully look forward to some good attacking football.

He's got just as much chance as anyone, as we know that history has meant sod all in the past

What CL or big team experience did Harry have when he came? Still one of our more successful moden managers.

If we get behind the "new" staff, we might just do well!

Did Harry have these licenses that people speak of? He did pretty well, even if he didn't.

Anyway, I'm happy enough as we're safe from relegation and I gave up on Top 4 weeks ago. The remaining Cups, who knows, not me.

Good luck to the club as usual. If it means we'll see more of Bentaleb and Fredericks that will be good, probably :-)

I dont get the disagrees...if we do not qualify for CL or do not do anything worth while in the Euro (like reach the final) or win the cup (are we still in that?) We will lose our best players. No way Lloris or Jan are going to stick around...Monaco already wants Walker, Lemela is still highly desired in Italy, Demeble is going to want CL football, Sandro is good enough for most top teams, and Eriksen is highly rated (and for good reason).

Firing AVB was wrong, especially without a better replacement. At this level (and desired level), you dont fire a manager and replace him with the youth coach. You get an even better manager with a proven track record.
