Match Unstoppable force (Watford) vs Immovable object (Spurs) Sunday 2 September

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Well. I said we needed to buy a pacy defensive midfielder. Dembele is a fricking liability.
He wasn't good enough again today. China is his level now. I'd have played Dier ahead of Moussa.

Also. Please stop blaming tiredness for Kane not looking the same.

It's excuse after excuse after excuse from people trying to defend a player who rightly deserves criticism. He has NOT looked the same since his injury. That's near on 5 months ago. He's not even playing the same.

First it was that he needs match time to get sharpness back after his injury. He got game time and it never came back.. So now all of a sudden it's tiredness. For fuck sake, he's a professional athlete. His job is to play football pretty much every single day. People have had injuries and come back before. He's been back for 5 months and we've seen glimpses of that same guy but it's not consistent.

I've said before, I'm happy with Kane how he is. He's the best striker we have and he'll still score goals because you don't lose that touch but people need to get in their head that this is what we've got now with Kane. He isn't going to be the same youthful enthusiastic guy he was when he burst onto the scene and was trying to prove people wrong. He's now a top level elite player who will get accolades based on his goals and nothing else.

As long as he looks after his body, keeps his training to a high standard, he'll stay at that top level with us and that's good enough for me.

Couldn’t watch the game, how shite were we? Swear to god nothing worst than checking LiveScore at the end of the games and seeing a L. Fucking depressing.

Not as bad as the din would have you believe.

Watford went beast (for them) after we scored and we didn't match them.... Poch could have been more pro-active at this point, but any grumbles about the starting line-up are blessed with hindsight. On another day, maybe would've snatched a point at the end, but it was not to be.

Bang on. To be honest, the timing of this game was particularly shit because we're seemingly not yet at the point where Winks is fit enough to start (and Dembele losing his legs too much for two games in a row).

Add to that Kane and Eriksen being off the boil and in-form opposition who were never going to give Lucas the space to play to his best game and it's easy to see how this afternoon happens.

Edit: to be positive, I don't see us being this shit again for the rest of the season. Kane and Eriksen will both come good (and probably stay that way until May), Son will either push Dele or offer a bench boost, and Winks & Lamela will both get fit to inject creativity.
Son will push both Dele and Kane. Which is good. Either Kane steps up or he can get some rest for a few games

Oh look. The transfer window patrol are out again.

Funny that the transfer window wasn't blamed when we smashed Man Utd at Old Trafford.

So when Llorente came on to try and get us a point you thought to yourself, "yeah, the make up of this squad is perfect!"

There were many issues that needed addressing in the transfer window and not one single one was and it showed today.

Harry Kane isn't in great physical condition. He looks laboured when he's sprinting.
I wonder what a decent pre-season's training would do for him. Does he get this summer off?

Absolutely, but not gonna happen. No one is battering Liverpool this year.
Beat them yes , batter them, not happening.
The way we have started this season I'm not looking forward to playing Liverpool at all...tjank God our first game in the new stadium is not them..how depressing would it be to get done by that lot on our opening night..im not excited about this season, a decent 2nd half against clueless mourinhos men didn't change that as much as I obviously loved giving them a bit of a spanking...ffs levy and co sort yourselves out....

Is anyone who saw last pay day Llorente poncing about last season glad to see him still on the bench again this season ?
Fucking seriously ?

That was just Pochs shit in game management. Which has always been his weakness. Losing a game and you make your first sub on the 81st minute? That's not a transfer window issue. That's on Poch.

Poch made the mistake of bringing Llorente on. I'm not going to blame a transfer window for a stupid fucking sub.

A simple change in formation would have sufficed. Winks, Dier or even Wanyama on for one of our centre halves would have seen us either earn a point or potentially win the game. You don't always have to bring on an attacking player to cause problems when you have fucking Kane, Dele, Eriksen and Lucas on.

The only issue I saw from the transfer window was the fact we didn't sign a central midfielder. We had THREE on the bench today. I saw zero issue from that line up or the bench. I praised it before hand. Dembele was arguably the worst player on the pitch. How he survived 60+ minutes is beyond me. It cost us the game.

The 3-5-2 formation is the way to go. We played better today than we did against Man U.
Trippier put so many dangerous crosses in during the first half because he had the freedom to go forward.
If only we had Adrien Rabiot! Watford were indeed lucky today. That's the way it goes. Shit happens.

Spurs up 1-0 and the game is screaming for a sub especially with the lack of a CDM on the pitch. And Poch doesn't do a thing till the 81st minute down 2-1. Shocking really with his post game remarks and he surely shares some of the blame.

He had to react quicker today, regardless of us taking the lead.

It is possible to be too loyal or trusting of your players.

This is exactly what cost us.

Nothing to do with transfer window or any other excuse. We all watched it. We saw Dembele playing poorly. We saw that we had practically zero control at a certain point in that second half. THAT is when you change the game.

What was disappointing is that he done it against Fulham. They started to gain control so Poch made an early sub (by his standards) and we changed the game and went onto win it.

Dembele was fantastic against Man Utd? Are you kidding?

Fantastic may be a stretch - but he had a really good second half which coincided with us winning the game. He had a poor first half against United but started to gain control of the game in the second and it won it for us.

He should never have played today though (Simply cannot do 2 games in a week) and when he did, should never have lasted longer than 60 minutes. We had 3 natural central midfielders on the bench, USE THEM.
