Hate them too, but the cup final thing, at the moment, is clearly bollocks. In the last three years they have moved up a level whilst we have gone backwards. They have more chance of winning something than we do at present.

Last 3 years?

The season before last they finished 16th...... The year before that 10th.

We currently sit above them.

They have happened upon a decent team but their 'rise' is very much being overstated by you and some others.

I know it sounds churlish but yes, as long as we can get young Skipp to do half our star player's work and then on top of that if he feels like playing on that particular day...
This is a complete misconception and totally unfair on tanguy. Who ran the furthest v toon, scored a great goal and generally played very well. He was involved the 3 rd goal as well.

As with all our games this will be about attitude and bottle. Player for player they are (maybe Rice aside) inferior. But they will have their tails up and be chasing every 50/50. If we don’t strangle the possession and don’t show application it will be 3-0. If we show up, fight for the ball and actually bother then a win is the most likely outcome.

The real challenge will be NOT giving away silly free kicks anywhere around our box, especially the fall back area and not conceding too many Corners.

Reads oh so simple.
One word: Dier

It's as simple as this our rival is Woolwich the first fixture we look for.
West Ham's rival is Spurs the first fixture they look for is Spurs.
Chelsea's rival is Spurs the first fixture they look for is Spurs!!

Fucking hate West Ham.

They are cup specialists. We are their cup.

....the Cup Final thing IS an irritant .. as if we're SO worried it might make US look small time if we can be bothered to take this game seriously, as if it's somehow beneath us!
I don't think it makes or breaks EITHER if our seasons if we win/lose... but the fact THEY seemingly take it more seriously than WE do has probably been reflected in some of the recent results between us... (That, and they're getting better each season... whereas we're... erm, not!)

..some would even have you believe they will need to check the fixtures in the morning to see who we're playing tomorrow afternoon!

No, it's not necessarily the first game we look for in August... But it's up there in the top 3 or 4...

Likewise, do you think Man Utd & Liverpool fans ONLY look to when they play eachother? Of course not... They also have 2 or 3 direct rivals for whom the game matters just as much.

IT'S OK TO CARE ABOUT PLAYING WEST HAM!!!
I know I fucking do!

I think the problem is that they play better as a unit. They're settled and each player knows their part. They're well-coached and they're doing well in the EL which will lift their spirits further.

We're still finding our feet. They're not going to give us the breathing space we had against Newcastle in the last 75 mins. It will most likely be like the first 15 mins for a sustained period and I do have doubts about our ability to soak up that pressure, not because of a lack of talent, but owing to the fact that we've been late to the table finding our best eleven and I'm not yet confident in Nuno's ability to spot a problem and correct it quickly enough.

They have lost Jesse which has maybe taken a bit of wind out of their sails, but they really do love beating us and I think they're mentally the tougher side. If everyone shows up we should be able to beat them, but I still have doubts about our players' ability to lift their heads when the pressure's really on.

Fingers crossed, but I'm more nervous for this one than the last two.

I know I said it before but they really struggled against Townsend (and Gray) last Sunday vs Everton who had the best chances to score in the match. poor finishing was their issue.

If our (superior to Everton) attacking players are on form, West Ham won't cope.

You remember the 3-3 right??

Even if we're 4 up with seconds remaining, I'm nervous!!!

We'd need an apt, 24th Anniversary scoreline along the lines of Bristol Rovers to make me feel any sense of confidence!!
Hahah I don’t see us retreating to our 18 yard box like we did repeatedly under that cunt
