Fair enough, I guess

The reason Bats didn't work is pretty simple.

His club needed exactly £33 million to break even and to not be punished for their financial records.

Tottenham wanted to wait them out and hope that the price would drop, meaning that any club who wanted to pay £33 mil would more or less instantly get him.

Tottenham obviously isn't going to pay that money so waited and waited...and got their fingers burnt.

Not that bad a loss though. Don't think he's worth £33 mil.

Lukaku starts ahead of him, and unless he's really on his game he's pretty useless

No doubt when Redknapp decided long ago that Suarez could not play up top on his own people thought that was a good decision.

We could pull out of a 5 miilion offer of a top player and some on here would say good thing because the player probably has a heart rate below 60.

I hope we get the players that are evidently needed but based on the perceptions of those players we fail to acquire, thry are all useless so why are we bothering!!

Bats had ridiculous wage demands which would have torn our team to pieces and created real problems. It wasn't the case of 40m here and 100K a week. It was a case of 40 Million there, and then about 2-300k a week in wages. That is a pretty obvious problem.

Some will have agreed with Harry, others wouldn't have. Nobody fully agrees on any transfer. Every player has weaknesses. It's whether their strengths make up for their weaknesses in the position they play. Jansen looks like a very well rounded player, and we have already signed a midfielder. Melting doesn't make it happen faster, it just makes it all the more annoying for those actually trying to be a little patient with the club, and the clubs targets.

Looking highly likely we will sign janssen.
So that's 2 solid signings.

Interesting to see which position will be our next transfer target?

A striker who can also play wide?
Dembele cover/competition?
Attacking midfielder?

Greg Stobart said we were also after an attacking midfielder, which imo is an area where we could definitely strengthen

FFS, not a whisper about Kane going anywhere. But that's not stopping Sky from making him the centerpiece of their "Transfer Centre LIVE!" advert.

Clicky clicky click-bait. Gotta sell that click revenue!

Striker and attacking midfielder!
I reckon we could sign 3 more after Janssen!

Maybe. It'll bring us to 25 outfield players, who played any kind of significant part last season or have been signed now. Where you'd think Poch would want 21 or 22, maybe 23. Release Carroll and it's 24. Doubt Poch will look to work with a bigger number than 23.

So to bring anyone else into the fold, and wanting them to actually see game time, like Pritchard, Winks, CCV, KWP or Ball and we'll most likely have to/look to sell one for each of them.

So for me the maybe is, whether Poch actually want rid of very many (and if we can find takers) plus how many he wants to promote. Rather than just looking at incomings from outside. Three after Janssen, like you say, and we're already looking at releasing/selling two, plus one for each youth promotion.
