Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

"If I own an English club, I sign Tony Pulis," Mourinho said.

"It's as simple as that - he's a guarantee to achieve what the club wants."

His words. They're cut from the same cloth.

The mutual respect is there I'm sure, I mean let's be honest Pulis made shit teams into consistent PL teams during that time, many of which have fallen away since he left them. You've also had players like Ibrahimovic say that out of Mourinho and Guardiola, there's only one he would rather play for and it wasn't Pep. It depends on different things as you know but I still think it's far, far too soon to be scrutinising Jose, that's just my opinion on him after being in the job for 3 months.

I think stylish football is more important than trophies won. Many would disagree with this - and I understand that.

I never want to think ‘can I be arsed to watch Spurs play today?’

I’ve said in the past that CL teams shouldn’t get a second chance in the EL. It does cheapen things a bit. However, I can understand the logic behind it. Bring in more leagues/money then later turn it into some bastardised version of the UEFA Cup.

Completely agree that it should be knock-out, home/away. It’s still a massive trophy, whatever way you look at it.
It would be deemed massive if the big clubs weren't dismissive of it. If it's dismissed then it can't be considered massive.

It's a conundrum for sure and one that will not be fixed. Because so long as the CL shuts it's doors and disproportionately pays the "historic big teams" and the National leagues around Europe are dominated by the same clubs it will always be dismissed by those teams.

Just look back to the old European Cup, over a two-decade period it was one by a good cross-section of clubs, from Villa to Forrest to Milan, Juventus and Liverpool to Ajax etc. Because of this and more fluid leagues and the formate of the UEFA Cup, both were genuinely sort after Cups.

Hey Baggio1 Baggio1 I acknowledged that some people would disagree with that statement. You didn’t have to be such an obvious cunt.

I think one offsets the other.

Stylish football with no trophies? Most fans will live with that

Shite football with trophies? Most fans will take that too

But. Shite football with no trophies? Now we're down to the likes of Airfixx Airfixx and RomanzoCriminale RomanzoCriminale

Sorry I typed that out too quickly.

I think my point was that it was made out to be. Jose fans say “we had a coach who could play good football, now we need a winner”. The inference from those people is that the options are exclusive and they aren’t.

I find our situation a little bit like dating a lovely pretty girl, the sort your parents want you to marry and have kids with. That hasn’t worked out so you decide to root a filthbag instead as some sort of rebound.

Sorry, I see nothing to suggest that the bloke was referencing Poch 2015....

Meanwhile; have I championed the style of play under Jose?

Nope.
He wasn't. He makes NO reference to any time period past or present. He's just talking about the style of football being better. You brought up last season. I brought up is first season as an example of the football not being great but under a new manager, there were signs of something there (I thought it relevant comparison to make seeing as we have a new manager now).
