What's this gap for? Don't tell me it's for international friendlies?
It is.

There will be international friendlies - and not just that, but also World Cup qualifying games (South America, for example) -, in March.

Why are they taking so long to just cancel the International Break in the first place? I have no idea. We´re talking about 15 days of international games that could be played another time.

Another 15 days, by the way. Football had three international breaks since the beginning of the season - 45 days in total. We wouldn´t be in this mess if they had "just" two - instead of three - international breaks.

In short, if the choice was not to play international friendlies, we would probably be able to postpone matches right now.

Teams in Europe are the only ones with problems. For anyone else there are plenty of free weeks due to the lack of fa cup replays.
The internationals in March are World Cup qualifiers. Andorra SAN Marino etc.

I have an idea...

If we're forced to delay the Villa game, I say we demand the the TV fee due to them for that fixture. Let's see how quickly they change their tune.

The teams hold all the cards, said it before.

If Villa WANTED to play in the week and just get it over and done with, they would.

But they have coronavirus to fall back on and will warn Premier League of safety to get it called off.
Anyone got any idea if there is any lateral flow testing prior to games? They are doing them in schools at the moment. Carried out by non medical volunteers with no formal training or supervision from healthcare professionals. It seems to me that it's ridiculous if the premier league at least aren't doing this.

Hi Spurs fans

Firstly, congratulations on reaching the final in the week and wishing you all the best for the final.

Just wanted to give a Villa perspective ahead of the game which undoubtedly will be called off on Wednesday.

1. We’ve also had 2 games called off. Man City away on the opening day because they were given extra time off due to European involvement last season and Newcastle at home because of COVID cases at Newcastle.

2. My understanding is we can only pick players for Premier League matches from our squad of 25 players picked for that competition, all of which are self isolating.

3. We have pretty much had to send out a bunch of young kids as sacrificial lambs against the Champions tonight, with Klopp putting out all the big guns, probably because he’s pissed off about getting spanked by our first team at the start of the season. To expect these kids who gave absolutely everything they had to go again against Spurs is ridiculous.

In summary, let’s play the game when its safe to do so and we can both play our first teams.

Well if Villa players gave positive test on this monday, it means they have to be in isolation for minimum 10 days right? So should not be out before 14.01 (day after match is scheduled) IF they give negative tests by then?

So it seems very-very likely that the game will be postponed if exceptions have been made for Fulham, ManCity etc...

Thats just freaking great.

Yeah, I can't see it going ahead. This is the rules / advice / guidelines from the government...

IF YOU'VE TESTED POSITIVE:

How long you need to self-isolate

If you've tested positive and
  • you have symptoms – self-isolate for 10 days from when your symptoms started
  • you have not had symptoms – self-isolate for 10 days from when you had the test
If you get symptoms while you're self-isolating, the 10 days restarts from when your symptoms started.

When to stop self-isolating

You can stop self-isolating after 10 days if either:
  • you do not have any symptoms
  • you just have a cough or changes to your sense of smell or taste – these can last for weeks after the infection has gone

When to keep self-isolating

Keep self-isolating if you have any of these symptoms after 10 days:
  • a high temperature or feeling hot and shivery
  • a runny nose or sneezing
  • feeling or being sick
  • diarrhoea
Only stop self-isolating when these symptoms have gone.
If you have diarrhoea or you're being sick, stay at home until 48 hours after they've stopped.
If someone you live with has tested positiveIf someone in your support bubble has tested positive

How long you need to self-isolate

Self-isolate immediately if someone in your support bubble has tested positive and either:
  • you've been in close contact with them since their symptoms started or during the 48 hours before their symptoms started
  • you've been in close contact with them since they had the test or during the 48 hours before their test (if they have not had symptoms)
You need to self-isolate for 10 days from when you were last in contact with the person.

When to stop self-isolating

You can stop self-isolating after 10 days if you do not get any symptoms.

What to do if you get symptoms

Get a test to check if you have coronavirus on GOV.UK if you get symptoms while you're self-isolating.
If your test is negative, keep self-isolating for the rest of the 10 days.
If your test is positive, the 10 days restarts from when your symptoms started. This will mean you're self-isolating for more than 10 days overall.
If you’ve been told to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace
Information:

IF SOMEONE IN YOUR BUBBLE TESTS POSITIVE:

Chances are that none of them had symptoms so that means 10 days of isolation from the date of their tests. In turn that means that in order to be able to play on Wednesday the test would need to have been carried out no later than This Monday(?) 4th January?
That would also mean zero days on the training ground before the match.

In Mourinho press conference they mentioned why dont we play Fulham instead as they have a game postponed too.. makes sense just to postpone villa and spurs play another game instead surely?
Im pretty sure the fa wont decide till the night before tho so wont happen

Well said mate

Okay, how about we make a deal.

You can field your under 23 XI, and we'll promise to start Gedson Fernandes.
😂 ! Sounds fair enough I suppose.

I just can’t see it happening on Wednesday to be honest. I’m still pissed off that we’ve been made to sacrifice the FA Cup.

We were basically told play the game with a bunch of kids who have got no chance of winning or forfeit the tie. Proud of the effort the kids made last night but coming away with pride intact was realistically all we could hope for.

Our players have got to self isolate until next Friday so can’t see our games with Spurs in the week or Everton next Saturday happening. Honestly wouldn’t be surprised to see all games being off in the very near future.

...hey, we've been doing that for the last 30 years... :sonpoint:
