Fuck me imagine going in to next season with Mourinho and without Kane.

:pochcmon:
Be interesting how many ST will renew.

Ticket office will have to be really smart about when they announce prices and renewal dates.

Levy is struggling in this sense. He needs the cash flow, but I can't see fans returning consistently with Jose in charge.
There's only so much money tourists can bring in. Particularly if the A list players are no longer with us.

Couldnt agree more. Im amazed our fanbase is still huge and loyal. Had so many letdowns. I do think levy needs to stand down. He means well but hes been there long enough now.
Levy is playing off the loyalty of the fans.

There are very few clubs that have fans as loyal as us after being delivered sweet FA every season.

I'm happy to admit I'm one of those. A couple of other posters have said that too.
I'll probably still renew my season ticket because I always have done so and I appreciate watching football. But FML its going to be a struggle forking out money to watch us next season with Jose in charge. I hope THST ask Levy to review the ticket prices. Its not affordable anymore particularly for some fans who will have been affected by the pandemic financially.
There will be fans that have been going for 40+ years who won't be able to renew this season because the prices are extortionate and the pandemic has sent them into a financial tailspin.
But the club won't give a toss cos there will be someone lining up to take over. Having said that it might be harder now with the on field performances, the lack of tourism, and the fact that those who may be in line to pick up a season ticket can't afford to themselves.

The whole situation is a total clusterfuck.

This Spurs fans been entitled is a load of nonsense. Any ambitious club with a history like ours should have a certain sense of entitlement and expectation.

We were the first club to win a double in the 20th century, the first English club to win a European trophy. When you tally up the total trophy haul of the 3 domestic trophies and the 3 European trophies, we were the second most successful club in England after Liverpool with 13 trophies in the post war period from 1946/47 all the way up to 1991/92, when Man U overtook us. We’ve won 3 trophies in 37 years since 1984.

Quite apart from trophies, we were a club that always had a well earned reputation for stylish football even through not so good times. The utter dross that Mourinho has served up over the last 16 months is an affront to our history and tradition.

Fair enough we were weak in certain positions, but with the attacking talent we have at our disposal, we have better players oversell than the likes of Leicester, Everton and Spammers and our £15 million a year managerial guru should be able to serve up some stylish football that comfortably sees us in the Top 4.
This is a superb post and really puts to bed the nonsense of the Levy fan club that because we were pretty shit in the late 90's we must be grateful for everthing thats happened since.
Bollocks.
We were a sleeping giant when ENIC arrived, and we're still sleeping 20 years later.

Personally I want to feel that when we go to Woolwich or Chelsea and Liverpool that the result is not a foregone conclusion.

Apart from one or two notable exceptions that has been a feeling I have held with justification for 20 years.

That's not resolved solely by money but a massive improvement in our mentality. Our biggest reason for always falling short.

Sacking Jose at the end of season and getting a manager who clearly is good at attacking football and I think most fans will be happy to come through the gates. Keeping Jose with his brand of football and no hope for a genuine title challenge with that football and fans will turn off.

The problem is, evem with a DoF, Levy is still too involved.
And what we really need, is a team. A DoF who is well known to the coach and they both trust eachother. And Levy to loosen the purse strings when a good opportunity comes up.
I agree with that. I'm a big proponent of a DoF, just pointing out there's little historical success in ours and other clubs' recent past to convince Levy of that.

The trouble, no matter what the recruitment setup, has been defining that opportunity. We've splashed some cash before and been bitten. Paulinho, Soldado and Lamela. Sanchez. Club record fees paid for all, and we've gotten pretty poor returns.

We gotta sort out the scouting. And you can't say the answer is always spend more. Liverpool and Leicester have paid the sorts of fees we've paid for quite a long time...and they've bought much better players at those prices. Maybe we just need to nick all their recruitment staffs, the money those guys make is nothing in the grand scheme of things...double their salaries!

I get the impression from you and other posters that whatever he wins it won’t be good enough

You say we didn’t beat any decent teams in the Caraboa cup this season but I recall knocking Chelsea out earlier

We have had some good PL results notably 6-1 at OT 2-0 against City and 2-0 against Scum

I do concede that we have been woefully inconsistent and Sunday was a good example

Jose inherited a shambles and he still doesn’t trust some of his players especially in defence and Ndombele in midfield

I’ve seen enough to give him next season if we can get a couple of decent signings this Summer

One of his biggest rickets was buying Doherty
Chelsea were crap under Fat Frank, it’s why he is out , I hated watching that game it was atrocious
I also said we have been crap since Xmas against good teams

He knows he can behave like the landlord of the only pub within 100 miles. Our love for the club means we can’t swap teams like swapping supermarkets we are stuck. It is cynical and exploits the fans love for the club, but nothing will change until ENIC sell . To be fair they have always made it clear it’s a business first , being a fan is secondary with Levy.
i fear we have seen it as good as it gets for a while .

The key ingredient is the manager.

Recruitment is part but the role of the person who adds that value cannot and should never be underestimated.

Ranieri had a worldie season that he could never replicate so I call that a freak.

Rodgers and Klopp have probably made the recruitment of both of their clubs seem outstanding as ours when Pochettino was making us look nigh on invincible for a while.

It's a combination and Mourinho is not our answer but under another manager we would probably be saying our recruitment was quality.

Too much picking and choosing on this forum which is understandable but flawed.

I'm with you until claiming Poch made our recruitment better and Mourinho has ruined it. Mourinho has bought some, but this is still largely Poch's squad too. And as I pointed out before, our biggest successes came when Poch was under the Head Coach title and Levy, supposedly, had an even firmer hand on the till. When Poch got upgraded our recruitment went downhill - not specifically assigning full blame to him, but we have to be careful not to turn Poch into some sort of saint. He is not without blame.

I don't know what the setup in the summer will be, but the squad needs a lot of churning...if we fuck it up we could be struggling for another 3-5 years.

Agreed mate. Maybe you misread. Pochettino had flaws but for a while no one questioned our recruitment, including the purchase of Wanyama, very much down to the aforementioned.

My point is simply that managers have to add value. If not what is their purpose.

Competing with Neil Harris for the spurs job hopefully
how i met your mother barney GIF

Definitely. Thats why Mourinho was always a square peg for Spurs...his idea of recruitment doesn't match our financial situation. We need someone who can/will find the next VVD, not someone who wants to buy VVD.

Yeah brilliantly put. We do. On that though I also think such players grow into the club. Vidic/VVD.

Both were very good but it's like they morphed into phenomenal players worthy of their clubs and crucially they stayed.

Maybe we just don't have the DNA to make enough players like that.

Bale, Modric but who else over time? And they left of course and took with them tbat yard stick of quality.

I suspect we'll win nowt this season, finish 7th, but Jose will be given another season for monetary reasons.

I'm keeping my expectations low and taking comfort in winning the Premier League Sustainability Table 2020.

If Jose comes 7th, we win fuck all playing this style of football and Levy doesn’t sack him, I will be very much in the Levy out camp not that I can do anything to get rid of Levy.

We will be setting up a mid season sacking next year and rushed Tim Sherwood style appointment if we do.

Agreed. If Levy wants to go the way of Sugar with the Graham appointment and cling on to a busted flush then fine but he'll likely get the same grief that Sugar got. If Mourinho stayed and has no credit in the bank in regards to top 4 or a Europa win then i would be stunned if he made it to Xmas. A likely, typical Tottenham October/November sacking and another wasted season.

That's my fear we go into next season with him, all we're doing is setting up the inevitable meltdown once fans come back into the stadium and watch the dog-shit football he serves up. That'll be another season wasted then. Get him out let a fresh manager with modern ideas take the club forward and hopefully cull a few of the squad who are there just making up the numbers and happy with that.

Yeh at least at the end of this season we can get our manager of choice or someone appropriate. Half way through next season and it’s another wasted year with a career taker manager and I would imagine very pissed off players and fans.
