Agreed my only reasoning is that I’d rather him playing for us than against, he could be useful as rotation in said kangaroo cup and other versus some PL teams.
This all makes much more sense if we think of Traore as a RWB (where Nuno has employed him in the past) both in terms of maximizing Traore’s skills and best shaping the team we’re putting together.
But it's only two games a season that he'll be playing us...not great value for money is it?
Apart from yesterday, when I've seen him before, for either Wolves or Spain, he mainly plays on the right wing.
So maybe there's some line of thinking that Gil complements Regui and Traore could complement Tanga/other classic right back

A loan with option to buy..why on earth would Wolves do that?
If he's shit we can refuse to buy him..i don't see how that works for them or the player, he'd probably reject that as well.
Wolves could set a big enough loan fee that they get the player back and a lot of money for free. But an option to buy also suggests that we dont trust our DoF and scouts and already worried about what if it doesnt work out.

I think some of the balls he put into our box would have found a player on our team. Son, Dele etc would have arrived for them.
And if you look at him as a wing back rather than a winger, he probably does more damage just by pinning his opposite number back than most wing backs in the league.
Sometimes the best form of defence is attack. Whereas Tanganga got forward a lot against City and instigated attacks from RB, he spent the while match yesterday in his own half.
