Okay great. But then we are left with 2 CMs against a team like chelsea who will take the ball of them easily and go past them. Our 3 superspecialised CBs then get bombarded 10 times harder because we never have the ball. Of course they will make mistakes at some point and get destroyed.

Im not saying, never play a back 3. But we became twice the team after we switched to a back 4 and had and extra midfielder on.
Then play a 3-5-2. Problem solved.

3-5-2 brought about our best performance vs Liverpool.

Everyone loves Lucas but I think it’s to the detriment of the balance of the team.

Son upfront full time, I hate him wide these days.

Same thing with the CM’s , play more of them, the job is easier.

352 for big games > See Liverpool.
343 the rest.
4231 if it ain't working.

Just to summarise:

We had 7 players who are unreliable technically on the ball:
- Doherty, Sanchez, Tanganga, PEH, Emerson, Lucas and Son

Chelsea had maybe 1:
- Sarr

Something would have had to go horribly wrong for Chelsea for them to lose that game.

Definitely better than what we started with yesterday. Id add when the other team is just camping and we need to score, we dont need a 3CB unless they are all very good passers.

Dont even need hindsight for this, anyone could have told Conte before hand how its going to go. Concerning that it took him upto halftime to make the change.

No shame at all in losing to Chelsea last night. I think it's simply the manner and nature if it

If Conte were with us for 2 years and the same thing occurred then it would be more emblematic of him and the squad that he had built.

For now it was an expected result and I guess the disappointment was the lack or sign that the result was in doubt.

It really wasn't in my opinion.
If Chelsea had won 6-0 we could have had no complaints.

We were utter dogshit and I'm still waiting for an explanation why the Danish Dud got the full 90 minutes to show his full shiteness.

I've read a lot of concerning stuff about Conte in recent times. One of his weaknesses is supposedly a reluctance to make substitutions until late in the game.
according to people on here and any other football message board in all likelihood, that's every manager in the game.
an accusation levelled at every Spurs manager, by the armchair experts

OK, in the cold light of day they had better players than us and had a better team and better tactics in the 1st half.
A simple change at HT (that should have been done in the 1st half) and the whole balance changed and we were at least standing toe to toe with them.
Both their goals were OGs after errors. Can't remember Hugo having loads and loads of saves to make?
Most of our remaining games are played against worse teams than Chelsea and we have shown recently that we are quite good against those sort of teams.
On a side note I spent more time in the OMT than watching the game and I'm not making that mistake again. I don't mind honest criticism but the hatred and BS in here from some is disturbing.

Not from the person who let him stay on stinking out the place.

In my view the best managers don't always do it in the same way, as in how they relay their message on a performance.

Sometimes vociferous, other times quiet, sometimes overly critical and other occasions unduly generous

Keeping counsel sometimes and thinking through what you want to say to the media about players you ask something of is the right way, in my opinion.

What
well yes, obviously the manager chooses the team. in Conte I trust, he hasn't lost a league game but the best game I've seen us play this season was against Liverpool when we didn't play any DMs and we went toe to toe with them and were disappointed not to win.

As bad as we played yesterday and as dominant as Chelsea were, it was two gifts we gave them, but we should have taken the game to them with a winks, ndombele midfield or skipp + winks or ndombele, whatever we think of either of them, we don't have better right now that gives us that balance and creativity
What no Holjbjerg?😅

Good post.

Before the game I thought going away from that dump 1 goal down wouldn't have been a disaster.

2 goals down feels a lot worse because of how poor we played, but they will come to our ground 2 up and quite likely playing as though they have a 2 goal lead to protect away from home.

I'm expecting a reversal of game domination in the return fixture but we all know needing 2-3 goals is a big ask from our side.

Any Spurs fans that expected us to turn up at their place and pick up a draw or win in the first leg are a bit delusional.

Terrible first half performance from us and losing 2-0 (giving them 2 goals) without Chelsea having that many decent chances in the end.
Players was shocking but Conte got it wrong last night with the numbers in midfield and should made changes earlier.
Hopefully Chelsea will look back with regret they didn't get a third.

If we actually turn up; I smell penalties.

The thing about last night is that it was a wake up call for Levy, these players can only be improved so much and we really need to get everything right in the transfer market...no bargain shop crap and if you do spend, no throwing the money down the drain on another Ndombele...
How many wake up calls does he need.....? This about the 100th.....so far. He's NEVER going to wake up because he's making money. Spurs mean nothing to him. How can certain people on here not see that....

And Kante will be back for the 2nd leg.

davies is always weaker technically than the other 9 outfield chelsea players.

if were going to play shithouses and lose, we might as well play the players who can at least string decent bits of play together, and lose that way...at least we get some joy out of watching a game of football then.
