Agreed - so we don't know what the deciding factor was with Bastoni, we will never know, and it's a bit silly to make assumptions about it and pass them off as obvious facts.
Although we can use the numerous missed transfer targets, deals collapsing and a literny of false hopes over the years to form and educated guess.
Then again, you can also choose to believe the old, well worn "we tried" line.

Do or do not. There is no try,

Not Modric but Bastoni and surely it is about the player. Its about what they want.

If the reports coming out saying that they want to stay - and not just from Spurs but if I remember correctly independent sources. Then its not always as simple as just chucking more money at them. Some will take the money and some won't.
Frankly I don't think we gave bastoni a real reason to want to move either...

Yeah. I know where you're coming from, mate.
With me, it's the "not one brick" jibe that always signifies I've pulled their pants down and won the argument.
They use it when they've nowhere else to go :roflmao:
We use it because you maintained that we wouldn't see one brick of the new stadium....so everytime you come up with more bullshit we remind people of your record...

Of course it's not happening.
You ultimately never really know why a player may choose one club over another. Maybe its success, the coach, club vision, wages, location, or maybe it's a personal affinity. At the moment though, yes, Liverpool is a FAR more attractive option.
I accepted and have been at peace with where we not sit as a club, so not getting certain players and being flat-out rejected by others is something I'm okay with. Frankly, I'm kind of excited to see what we do with a whole new ststrategy.

So. What was the point of a new £1Billion multi purpose stadium again?

So Tonali was forced out and told that he has to move to Newcastle?

Obviously he’ll have a good life and the club will help him transition, but it still must be unsettling to have to move to a new environment when you don’t really want to.

No, I didn't think you were being over-critical for a second. I think that, as a consummate professional, he only quotes trustworthy sources. And of course, "many a slip twixt cup and lip" as mum used to say, things don't work out and we rarely find out exactly why. But he's as good as it gets and he's one of our own.

And a good egg, as Airffix says
Wasn't he a poster in SC for a while?
