How Dry should our Powder be?

I remember people complaining that we went for the cheaper option instead of Tapsoba. Hindsight is 20/20 especially when things work out. I love how history gets re-written as if VDV as a scouting masterstroke, as if we were monitoring him since he was born. Yes, credit where credit is due for buying him but alot more is due VDV's way. He has performed above and beyond what any of those suits could have dreamt of. VDV has an exemplary attitude for someone so young in the game.
Tbh I think Ange and whoever else scouted him get to take credit for VDV. We have no idea if we ever even had any interest in Tapsoba. Reportedly we were but in reality that interest could have been anything from one phone call or an email to an agent just mentioning that we like him.

What's worse is I'd have agreed but I'm going to tag him here ( Shadydan Shadydan ) he's been making some great point but he kills it with the mindless determination to tread on any criticism of the club that isn't "they didn't support Poch because of the stadium".
Shady’s tolerance probably worn thin by the unending negativity from some charters! 😂

My solution is to stick the muppets on ignore!

This will be ignored and you'll be told that we need to do more compared to our rivals or something.

I've never been one to claim that 100% of Levy action would have been wrong or that he somehow has ruined the club (unless ruining it would be taking it from on average 10th place finishes to avg 5th place finishing).

But why are you saying something like that with confidence, if not even with some pride?

Very simple question, but... don't you as a fan WANT your / our club to do more than rivals? Don't you want us to improve against the direct rivals to be in better position? What is wrong in wanting those things?

Cause I can, with full honesty, say that I feel WE should have been doing more by now.
Why? Because you have to look at things in context. Sure, we might have spent more than direct rivals in this window. But now look at past 7 years combined and picture is very different.
Also there is FFP and stadium income situation. We are in EXTREMELY favorable position. We don't have to worry about FFP - we could go crazy spending. Also the new stadium generates cash to burn. We have all the tools that most competitors don't have.

So again - why is that a bad thing that fans of this club expect the club to do more?

That is the only point of criticism for the club that I have ever seen you accept.

If I'm wrong and there are others and I missed them, I'm all ears (or eyes in this case). Bet you won't though. Instead you'll just deny you ever even said that because I quoted it and it wasn't word for word.

What you quoted was discussed a couple of days ago, shouldn't be hard for you go to back and re-read the actual convo, you'll probably realise you're kinda wrong mate but hey ho.

There's others and you're right you've clearly missed them, feel free to discuss it elsewhere other than the transfer thread though :)

Do people here rate Solanke? I find it a bit depressing that we seem to punch so far below our revenue / profitability weight in the transfer market?
From what I can see there are more that do than don't.

Don't mean this to sound bad but if it does I don't really give a fuck, the posters with opinions that seem to come closest to reality on MOST players all seem to like Solanke and there are admirers from the usually positive (happy clappers) and also the usually negative (doom melts).

He's quality player and fits the system IMO.

Think you're being a bit unfair. The key question for me with Richie is can he stay fit. Agree he isn't a hold up the ball/win free kicks / pens forward. He is weak at that. But he's better than a 10-13 goal merchant. He scored that last season in the one third of the season he was fit.
That is because his fitness coincided with his streak. The fact is his goal scoring is always clustered into short periods. On top of that he has only completed 90 minutes 8 times

You can't look at things in context because you don't have the full context of what is actually happening behind the scenes...

No-one said that we shouldn't be doing more than our rivals but I'm looking at the perspective of the transfer window, it hasn't really picked up yet and the majority of our rivals are in the same boat as us in terms of recruitment.

So until then all your arguments about what we have/haven't spent so far fall on deaf ears because you're all reacting out of desperation, sorry.

West Ham are having a better window than us by a country mile despite not owning their ground, a new manager, no Europe, and being run by a dildo magnate.

Not a single one of their signings gets into our strongest team.

What constitutes a "better window"?

Surely you won't know that until the end of the season. I've seen plenty of teams "win the transfer window" only to finish bottom half.

Problem is we are not in a Dissimilar position to Utd the difference is they have made two signings for their first team. There is talk of them doing 2/3 more this window. The fact is we would have probably finished behind them last season if they did not have to play Johnny Evans at CB for 10-15 games.

We need to sign someone for the sake of this thread, more so than the need to improve the first team and to compete.

Since Ange became Spurs manager and the new recruitment team of Lange & McKenzie with a Data Analytics approach took over pls look at the forwards we’ve signed:

Johnson £50m
Veliz £13m
Timo LOAN
Solomon FREE

Now you want Solanke? 😂
Can’t u see Levy is taking the piss

Who TF is Amir Richardson?

Hes 6ft 6 ins and son of a 4x NBA All star that plays for Reims in France
Decent kid, they do like that profile over there in Ligue 1...tall & technical CM who can carry the ball from defense to attack. Missed a few games for Reims last year, his average gametime wasn't that high either, but you could tell they weren't the same side without him. Most definitely too raw for the PL, but be interesting to see how he develops with another 2 seasons of Ligue 1 under his belt. Kid needs to play 30+ games a season and 75 mins pg.
