Penalty (at around 2mins in) isn't "clear cut" either way - Danny did well to stretch and did make contact with the ball, but there's question as to whether it's counted as going through the man to get the ball. Harsh red though.

I'm sick of us conceding from situations where it just shouldn't happen though, like the first goal.

fucking ridiculous shit

well it clearly wasn't the result we were hoping for, or potentially expecting.
hopefully my naive optimism can throw some positive light on the whole occasion for us.

Without sounding too self indulgent, some of you might now tonight was first ever trip the White Hart Lane. I am an Australian who has madly supported Spurs for quite some time now. After following our boys to our last outing up in Wales, recording a great Win, and experience Spurs for the very first time, I made may way to Tottenham this evening. My tickets were situated in South Stand Lower, Section 35. The perfect place to stand all night, uninterrupted by stewards (aside from the guys who was occasionally walking up and down the gang-way, listening out for too much 'yidism').

My afternoon started out at the Bricklayers, talking to a couple of locals fans, who were reminiscing about the 60's and the various memorabilia that covers the walls of the Bricklayers. No matter how much I tried to convince 'Keith", he wouldn't accept that AVB did any good to our organisation, and continued to ask the question "...how can we win games, if we don't score goals." A few pints down, we decided to leave the Bricklayers and pursue our dreams in a local jaunt called The Bill Nicholson..

Well well well.... My only piece of advice for ANY Tottenham fan who is heading to White Hart Lane for their debut performance is... MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE BILL NICK!!!

We had such a blast there, and were very well looked after by punters and bartenders alike. (The double sausage in bread for 4quid wasn't too bad either). I even managed to purchase a 'Wenger is a Paedo' badge.

The atmosphere at the ground was electric, and we stood all night, singing, clapping, calling Dzeko a 'box head cunt'. It was fantastic. Some people left early, some people slagged off our players, but most of Section 35 sung together, stayed till the end together and rode the waves together..

I fly home on Friday, back to Australia. so many memories, and I hope all of you Londoners who are feeling shit about the result can take some solace in the fact that a tourist who bought their tickets from the Spurs site, after purchasing an overseas membership, absconding from stubhub, has a fucking fantastic time!!!

Tough to blame the zebras

Spurs got a few calls this year that worked in our favor. Didn't happen tonight

Siggy has no business on the pitch vs a team of that quality

And Timmy's dance w/ the devil finally burns him good as a DM would have obviously minimized all that space in front of the back 4 (just look at CIty's first goal as Silva drops a gem of a pass w/ Dembele no where to be found)

EIther way, glad the loss came vs City and bring on Hull.

Just want to chuck it out there, as much as he is criticised, Chadli would have been the best option on LW today.
Lennon had a dire performance too, Lamela for Hull please!

Agree fully, chadli had to be the LW today so he could offer defensive pressure and help out Rose, he could have also been another outlet instead of having ade marked/surrounded by at least 2 city players every time he got the ball. Lamela to start behind Ade and Eriksen at LW next week?

Why are we to assume Lamela can just come in and do a job at the No 10 position in this league and on the back of little play with the first team? If anyone returns from injury, I hope it's Townsend who can do a proper winger shift on the left, and therefore allow Eriksen to do what he does best in the middle.

Can't really see how Gylfi / Lennon could have contributed much, seeing as we had the ball so rarely. I did, however, completely forget Gylfi was on the pitch. It felt odd on that side… Rose would often cut in on defensive duties (playing Agüero onside for the first…), and it would be Dembélé who would go wide to pick up Zabaleta or Navas. Saw this a few times in the first half and couldn't remember who was actually on the left side!

Let's not forget Bentaleb's double handling in the box when slating the ref. I thought he called a pretty good game, all told. The lino cost us a goal from Dawson, but for the pk, as my friend at the pub said, tackling from behind in the box is a seriously risky proposition, because even if it's clean (which I think it was in Rose's case), you're relying on the ref/lino to have a perfect line of sight, since they're automatically inclined to point to the spot. Even so, those of us at the pub couldn't see why it was a red, since we didn't think it was a goal scoring opportunity, but they never wound the tape back far enough.

Also, I loved seeing Ade fearlessly take on four City players at once. Repeatedly.

Give him a. Go?

I just posed the question, I didn't mean that he definitely had to play (in a particular position)

I'm sorry I don't mean to jump on your back if it comes across that way (which is fair), I'm just not sure why people are still so adamantly behind him going right into the first team. Just because we paid a pretty penny for him doesn't mean he should be played at any detriment to our team, which I believe he does at the moment. Unfortunately, while fourth is still a possibility, I can't see him getting much playing time. We fall off by dropping some points in some crucial upcoming games, I can see the possibility of Levy handing the order down to "maximize our investments."

I see many (predictably) have resorted to the usual 'blame the ref for everything' tactic - guys, I know it's painful and that's usually the easiest scape-goat but let's look at some of the other moments. Why can't we simply accept we were outplayed and not good enough (against a team with net spend of half a billion fucking pounds!). Not to mention the offside call was CORRECT and Rose's tackle looked much worse because he came from the side so it became a 50/50 really.

Just a few points below

- We were completely and utterly fucking OWNED the entire first half and were lucky to concede only 1. Around the 40th minute mark their attempts read 11 to ours single one. 35 - 65 possession, etc.

- Our only threat came from a few set-pieces - we didn't muster a SINGLE chance from open play, forcing Hart into a save or anything close to it - completely hapless. Was that also the lino's fault?

- Our midfield with that overhyped kid playing holding mid against Yaya fuckuing Toure and David Silva was busy chasing shadows all game - we gave the Spaniard an airport's runway in terms of space for the first goal - criminal.

- Rose's penalty, as unlucky as it was, came about from YET another 1-v-1 situation where our CBs were caught sleeping and they carved us open like a ripe fruit. It was only a matter of time.

- Dawson WAS offside from Ade's attempted header and the call was right - not to mention all the lucky ones we've had this season - it was bound to reverse at some point and pity it happened vs. the best team in the country

Final stats read

Shots - 4 - 24
Possession - 34 - 66 (it was alrady this in the first half so 10-men or not - no difference)
Passess - 329 - 656

We were completely and utterly outplayed, penalty or not - and eventhough we could have expected a loss, I would have been pleased to see some kind of effort or at least a close game - it was nothing of the sorts and I believe some of the team selection should take the blame again, much like we did against Woolwich. Sig, Bentaleb and Lennon were ghosts.

I don't give a fuck what Les thinks of defensive mids - if we want to start winning against teams higher than 14th on the table - Timmy and his buffoon friend on the side need to shuffle it up and display some kind of tactical awareness, because this Arry bullshit of man-management / positive thoughts and letting players do what they want can only last so many games and we will be be found out even more in the closing stages

But that game has happened and we need to move on from this result. Fergie used to say how responding after a bad loss is just as important so Hull is a massive test for our resolve

Just saw the match ... well, up until City scored their 3rd and then I just skipped around.

Nothing surprising really.
Spurs were set for self destruct with that starting lineup anyway, regardless of red card or not.
Add to that 2 poor calls and then I was just brain dead.

We just didn't look like Tottenham Hotspur FC ... but more like set piece reliant - Stoke/Wet Spam.

And yet again the same problem was evident that we saw numerous times under AVB: the left wing sucks!
Our best left winger (Townsend) is injured, and even he is relatively unproven in that position. Do whatever with Siggy/Chadli, but they can't be the solution for left wing. I said it long ago earlier this season that we still need to buy a LW, so tbh I wouldn't be surprised if we get this Konplankya dud.

And one more thing...
Under TS we have seen opponents on a few occasions so easily attack literally straight through our midfield and center backs. Fortunately, those times were we lucky to have weaker teams try that. This time we were punished. Sort it out, Timmy.

Btw, @ ANTONIO MONTANA ANTONIO MONTANA ... if you didn't notice, I think Lennon sucked today.

How does Danny Rose get a game? Bid for Luke Shaw and sort it out!
OYYY VEY!
Lexo and Singhyid are spot on, Left side is so weak right now! Danny rose getting sent off, Townsend hurt, and no suitable replacement. I just don't get why we aren't desperately searching the market for some left sided players if we really want a shot at top 4, if it isn't already too late. Secondly, Timmy is a fine coach, but shouldn't be manager. You'd think we would of sorted that out before the window is almost closed considering we haven't spent a dime. I hope we get it sorted. OY Vey.

Rose was one of our best players last night in a sea of shitness and mediocrity
Getting a red card isn't acceptable in my book mate. Just makes things worse. He may of played Average, but the red card puts him below the red line. Look at his whole season, he isn't cut out to be a LB. gotta start moving forward, even if that means cutting out some of the fat…. Just Saying.

You were doing so well.......

:dempsey:

In spite of the terrible sending off (not his fault) I thought Rose played really well. He was killing it with the slide tackles (including the eventual penalty) and did really well getting up the field.

Him diving in all over the place was always going end badly, good defenders stay on their feet to tackle.
