alternatively, he's an experienced pro with better then average media skills therefore is ideal for creating the club propaganda. Look, I am not trying to say Poch is shit or we are doomed or anything like that. It's just that we always hear about how the new boss is the boss we needed because of X, Y, Z reasons. This is just the usual splurge of "he's brilliant". I hope he is of course, but its a very long road and we've barely pulled out of our driveway

I completely understand what you're saying and there's nothing wrong with being cautious. Once again he's not the second coming of Bill Nick, I just think the early rumblings have been better than normal.

and this was a shining example of promoting board harmony was it?

Oh it had nothing to do with my match comments. Some people don't deal well with constructive criticism.
If you mean calling people cunts as being constructive criticism, then perhaps you are better off staying exiled on your little island Bermuda with the home guard.

I agree it would be silly to get carried away after today. Based on historical evidence we have to assume Poch is unlikely to last more than a couple of years as manager. If he lasts longer it will be because he's managed to take us up a level I guess.

But I think seeing the way the team played today is justification for getting excited about what he's brought to the club. Best game in I don't know how long, and basically all our players looked class. Granted the opposition were useless, but the way we played was better than what we've seen in a couple of years.

Still, when we come up against the dippers next week it will be interesting to see if we can still play to that level.

Incidentally I can't remember any "messiah" sentiments at the start of AVB's reign since most Spurs fans you'd meet in real life were suspicious of him at best (evidenced by boos in the ground from the very start of his tenure). As for Sherwood, lol. While Arry actually was our saviour a lot of Spurs fans weren't all that keen on his appointment either.

I can't talk about that! It's night time. Americans everywhere. Please don't bin me! Haha. I hadn't mentioned it.

I just got out of the bin. For answering questions why I thought we needed 2 solid holding players, eriksen, Lamela and one bigger player in the mix with Ade has been my mantra. Chadli filled that aerial or target role perfect and I upped him before the game.

Absolute perfect day for me. My sin bin was bs. One of the guys who was attacking me was questioning why I wanted Lamela starting? Others claimed it would be like west ham.

What else? They claimed I didn't watch games, only vines. Claimed I was talking shit about Bentaleb, Dier and Kane who I have in my starting 11 because I called them lumps for linking up for the winner vs west ham. (it was obviously a joke to counter the tiny dancer attack i was having and went clean over his head)

I was sin binned for bullshit reasons. IMO they are abusing the sin bin aspect.

But yeah. This was a HUGE day for me. I can't explain how long it's been since I wanted a starting 11 without attackers like Townsend, Soldado, Lennon and Naugnton in the starting 11.

It's Gibbsy porn. Long may it continue.

I better shut up. The night crew are coming. That's when I get banned.

This post made me piss myself, you do have a way with words don't you Gibbs, like the weight of the world was just lifted off your shoulders today.

But yeh it was nice to see none of our brain dead players on the pitch, we looked so clever with our movement.

Oh for goodness sake. We get this every time a new manager comes in and wins a few games. We could get hammered by LiverpoolFootballClub next week and wall this positivity will be gone. Yes, we looked good today - helped largely by QPR being rubbish - bug can we please just not start thinking of Potch of the chosen one, the messiah, the new Ferguson until there is a quite a bit more then three games under his belt.

Totally agree !! Enjoying it immensely however could've very easily conceded at least 2-3 in each game but for woeful finishing by two poor sides....the real measure will be how we deal with quality opposition that won't miss as many chances, that was the killer last season.
Fantastic to beat what's put in front of us so far and, hopefully find more good results as things come together under the new manager to truly impose his systems and style consistently. Fingers crossed rather than champagne corks popping already.

The front 4 first half was fucking scary good tbh

the movement the skill or technique the pace the aerial ability it was like total football 70% possesion lol

There was so much wonderful about that match. I don't want to repeat what's already been said, but I'd just like to add that Poch is an absolute inspiration. Up huge in the first half and all of the substitutions were to bring in aggressive, attacking players. We saw the same thing against West Ham even after the red card. It's a mentality that truly aspires for glory.
:pochbye:

That was a pleasure to watch, not just from an attacking aspect but defensively too. I lost count of the number of times we won the ball back, you expect the lesser teams to come and put up a decent fight.
Not only were QPR outplayed but they were outfought too.

It's been said a number of times already but it's been a while since I enjoyed a day at the Lane as much as today. Certainly better than any home game last season. The fans also seemed to respond to the performance, the atmosphere was better than it was most games last season.
Hard to add anything that hasn't been said already but a great day out with us top of the league!

Only disappointment was the membership disaster again. I'm not sure how many missed the start of the game but loads were queuing at the ticket office (myself included) because the membership cards had been rejected. Ended up missing Chadli's first goal as a result of it.

Yes, but it's easy to see that there is a positive direction there that was hard to see under AVB, and non-existent under Sherwood. Early signs are that the players want to know.

But there WERE positive things said about AVB - as they were about Redknapp, Ramos and pretty much every other boss except Sheewood. My point is that lauding the new manager for his excellent training/tactics/man-management (delete as appropriate). Is all pretty standard when there is a new man in charge. It's just standard regular media plaudits. It's easy to believe it as 100% genuine because we want to hear it - and I am not even saying it isn't genuine - it just part of the positivity of a new boss arriving.

Positive things said, but not necessarily reflected on the pitch. This team look like they want to play for this guy in a way I haven't seen for a long time. I'm going more on player body language, and collective spirit, than fan comments. I accept your point though - it is standard for a new man.
