If we win the Europa league + League Cup (and finish 7th or lower in PL)...

  • Sack Jose!

  • Keep Jose, and buy him some better defenders!

What?

Poch got us top 4 and to a CL final, that seems like getting the best out of players.

Jose could have a billion and it wouldn't make a difference because his tactics and philosophy don't work, he needs his players to overcome his tactics to have success.

Bringing in a manager that improves players, not limits them, will have a massive upgrade on the team.
First season we struggled and he had to have a clear out and rebuild. And tbh, his biggest addition to the squad was Kane.

You remember Ramos fondly?
In his first season 10 wins from 27 league games.
In his next season. 2 points from 8 games.

Upto the league Cup win, we were doing alright. Unfortunately Ramos was having personal issues in his private life / with his wife, which understandably meant his head went and he lost focus. Pity as he was a cup specialist and had things not gone wrong for him, I'm sure we would have won more cups under him.

I've got to say that I really don't get the school of thought that the league cup means nothing, particularly as we've won fuck all in 20 years. I'm sure the players would all be very happy to win it.
There are so many little positives that go along with the cup though.
Winning the league cup would give the players a massive confidence boost and drive to go for other cups.
It also increases the profile of the club and gets us in the news a bit more which is good for PR and sponsors.
Often if clubs are lucky they'll get a relatively easy draw through the cup run that gives the club a chance to rest players and/or play some of the youngsters.
Winning it would also show potential players that we're on the up and may sway the decision to join us.

I'm not a Jose fan, but this question is far to general, if we fluke it to 2 trophies playing shithouse football, his sacking should be considered. If we win them both playing like we played against Burnley id consider keeping him, but yeah if we were lower than 7th that would be unlikely.

Im sorry but at least 4 people have mentioned this, fluking 2 trophies? How can you fluke 2 trophies? If its so easy why havnt spurs won a bloody trophy for 20 year? Why have 60 percent of the premier not even won a trophy for longer than 20 year?

If poch won the league cup and europa double he would have a statue made for him outside the ground lol

The hate for jose is so boring and pathetic..how about wait until the season is over then get your pitchforks out..

In cup competitions the draw is the most important thing, the aspect of chance plays a massive part. If you want to see a fluky run look at our run in the CL, we absolutely robbed City (with the refs help) and I still have no fucking idea what we done to Ajax. Both those results were not by design.

Our draw in the LC has been very kind to us, I don't think we will beat City so the argument will become pointless. Again I have no real hate for Jose, if I am being honest I still cant help but like him, so chill out on the boring and pathetic please. If you have been pleased with our performances this season fair play to you, I think some have been close to absolute cowardice, not all on Jose mind you but he is the manager.

Again, you didnt answer the question...you said it was fluky to beat man city and ajax ...still didnt win anything..

You can only beat whats in front of you and if spurs manage to beat man city in the league cup then they deserved it, people not remember beating Chelsea on penalties from being 1 nil doen most the game playing our reserves because we had 3 extra europa league games or they conveniently forgot the 5 games in 10 days?

Nope because it was all a fluke i guess

Partly agreed partly disagreed.
We did play Chelsea in the 1st round.

Last year around we got kicked out by Colchester from League Two.

So in that sense I think Jose actually deserves credit that we progressed against our close rival and hated Chelsea + beat 2 Championship teams (and one out of them is most likely 2nd strongest team there)...

To win either the League Cup, FA Cup or Europa League, you probably only ever have to play one or two sides around your level.

I mean, I’ve not checked this, so could be wrong, but doubt many winners of these over the years have had to take on a large number of top clubs to lift the cup.

Just checked last season’s league cup. Man City played Preston, Southampton, Oxford, Man Utd and Villa. Hardly a stretch for them except the semi against United. Think their fans care? Doubtful. Even Woolwich on their way to the FA Cup last season only had City and Chelsea anywhere near their level. Again, two matches. Just like we’ve had Chelsea and City this season.

Yes, it’s possible to get to two finals whilst playing shite football, but tough to put our run to the final down to a lucky draw. It’s been no more or less difficult than any other big team gets.

How did the ref help us to rob City?

It's a bigger question than sacking Jose. We have a board incapable of backing the managers ideas.

Some of Mourinho's football has been dire, but we've also topped the league for more than an hour and played some good football. If we win the Europa then I think he stays. If we finish 7th with no trophies then I think he goes.

The next manager will fall into the same trap. We need the board and Hitchen to listen to the manager, get his targets and let him do what he thinks will win us silverware. The blame will then always lay with the manager, the board knowing they have done everything they could to support him.

I think all of those saying if we win both cups we will have “fluked” them need to wait and see. We won by seven goals in the last round, and if we win every round by seven goals are the deserved champions. Similarly if we batter Man City and win the League Cup we will deserve it. If they are winning 4-0, then have a fight amongst themselves and get five men sent off so we win by default then I won’t give Jose credit for this even if we win a cup.
At the moment I think we are playing ok. We were unlucky against Everton to get knocked out of the FA cup and I though we looked good against West Ham. Let’s see if we get some momentum where it takes us. If we batter Man City we will definitely deserve the League Cup and this will create good memories as well as a trophy.

And as always with the Jose apologists, another chance for them to cry and gnash their teeth based on their favorites words if, if, if, maybe, maybe, maybe.

Anything to distract from what has actually already happened.
A post that references yesterday not tomorrow.

Tomorrow has hope while yesterday only has regret.

I hope it's clear cut either way. I wanted him out on three occcasions, 1) after Leipzig last March, 2) after Bournemouth in the summer and 3) after the horrible run at the start of the year with multiple defeats and tactic disasters.

I am happy to be proven wrong, Spurs is what matters-

If Jose can turn this around and we go on a great run winning most matches and qualify for CL, at least EL, maybe win the League Cup and get seriously far in the EL (semi or final, possibly winning it) he has a good case.

However, if we go back to the shit show we have witnessed lately with the team notoriously "protecting" leads ending in lost points, tactical nonsense, not picking players that have performed, freezing out members of the squad, losing most games, no defensive organisation and failing to use our best attacking players, then he'll have to go.

In the long run I don't trust Jose to build the squad/club at all, it's not what he does. If he does stay we need to make sensible buys in the summer anyway, should the wheels come off in the autumn.

A couple of wins vs Wolfsberger and a great display vs Burnley is welcomed, but doesn't mean that all is good. We need to continue this, beat Palace, beat Fulham and get a result vs the Scum (at least a draw) and advance in the EL, then we'll speak.

I think you are getting me wrong here, I said if we fluke it to 2 cups playing shithouse football, meaning we go a goal up and then do our usual tactic.

The League Cup always seems to do this to people...
A trophy is a trophy is a trophy!
I don't care a Nun's rancid gash if 'modern football' is somehow 'above' the League Cup...
to listen to some of the contempt it creates, you'd think that winning it was apparently worse than not winning it!!

As for 'fluking' a trophy... if that was the case, then we had the 2019 CL win written all over us! ...and yet we didn't, 'cos Liverpool did... did they fluke the SF win over Barcelona after being 3/4-0 down (or whatever it was!) No, only we fluked it against Ajax, 'cos it was 'only little Tinpot part-timers Ajax, who happened to b 3-0 up with 40minutes to go in a 2 legged tie at home.... maybe it was 'cos 'only' Lucas Moura got us through that night, and not Salah or Firminio, or gurning in-need-of anger management Klopp!

We didn't fluke our way to the CL 'cos we didn't win it... we got lucky on some decisions against City, but we fully deserved to get to the Final due to an absolutely heroic, herculean effort in the SF....

...but back to the League cup... or any domestic cup... if it's only luck of the draw that gets you through, then why are there Cup Upsets?? surely any team who gets a lucky draw against a lower league team, would get through,... and the final would always be contested by the Top 2 in the PL each year... seeing as everyone else of the 90 clubs below them would be seen a s a 'lesser' draw, no?

This is all fantasy fan fiction. But if he wins EL with a good run of games there wont be a reason to sack him.
But this will require him to win the EL (guaranteeing CL football).
We lost to Spam... We aint beating no City for cup or any of the others for the EL final.

I think we honestly need the board to listen to the D.O.F preferably Ragnik. The vassilating between coaches and playing styles is stupid. We need to identify our club DNA its ancestry in Arthur Rowe push and rush, effectively pass and move under Nicholson and filtered through a ruthless number nine( unlike Barcelona false nine loving tika taka). Greaves Allen Lineker Kane. We are at our best with this variant. Bring on a D.O.F who gets this and produce buy players for the template.
