It was in The Telegraph...

"Jan Vertonghen was overlooked for the
Tottenham captaincy after head coach Mauricio Pochettino consulted his squad on which player deserved the armband.
Pochettino last month named Younes Kaboul as the club’s new skipper, following the departure of Michael Dawson in the summer.
Vertonghen had been tipped as one of the main candidates to take the captaincy, but the Belgian also missed out on becoming Kaboul’s deputy.
Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and, most surprisingly, striker Emmanuel Adebayor were both made Tottenham’s vice captains behind Kaboul.
Telegraph Sport, however, understands that Pochettino did not come to the decision to omit central defender Vertonghen from his list of captains alone.
Having only taken over the Spurs squad in the summer, Pochettino canvassed the opinion of his players on who would be best captain and vice captains.
Vertonghen did little to hide his displeasure under previous head coach Tim Sherwood, which may have helped convince his team-mates that he is not captain material."
