Shocking move by Poch, insulting towards the fans for a twat who spend 3 weeks AWOL. Not to mention the example it sets within the dressing room - you can fuck off on holiday and not bother but, don't worry - once you feel like coming back - we'll give you the armband. Poor form to say the least

Unless it's a desperate move to raise his stock in order for some Homers in Turkey or France to bite the bullet

AWOL? Im sure he was allowed to leave..This whole post is completely counter productive.

How anyone can defend him is beyond me! Absolutely shocking yesterday AGAIN! No movement up front, didn't want the ball enough... Might as well have played with 10 men! The difference when Soldado came on was crazy!

As far as I can see Poch went by the book, the players picked the captains at the start of the season, Lloris and Kaboul were not on the pitch so Adebayor got the armband. If you want to blame anyone, blame the players that picked him and Kaboul in the first place.

There is zero proof that is how captains were actually selected

The entire premise is based on a quote-less article in a common rag which was taken upon by a few Ade apologists on here and re-posted enough times until the more guillable posters took it as gospel

It was in The Telegraph...
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ricio-Pochettino-asked-for-teams-opinion.html

"Jan Vertonghen was overlooked for the Tottenham captaincy after head coach Mauricio Pochettino consulted his squad on which player deserved the armband.

Pochettino last month named Younes Kaboul as the club’s new skipper, following the departure of Michael Dawson in the summer.

Vertonghen had been tipped as one of the main candidates to take the captaincy, but the Belgian also missed out on becoming Kaboul’s deputy.

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and, most surprisingly, striker Emmanuel Adebayor were both made Tottenham’s vice captains behind Kaboul.

Telegraph Sport, however, understands that Pochettino did not come to the decision to omit central defender Vertonghen from his list of captains alone.

Having only taken over the Spurs squad in the summer, Pochettino canvassed the opinion of his players on who would be best captain and vice captains.

Vertonghen did little to hide his displeasure under previous head coach Tim Sherwood, which may have helped convince his team-mates that he is not captain material."

Matt Law is the journo enough said Gooner cunt!

You do realize this "no quotes" business is a load of old crap...proper papers don't report anything like this unless it has two reputable sources, just because they don't want to be name-checked doesn't mean what they say has no worth....Transfer rumours are another thing altogether.

:kaboullol:

Have you been been watching The Newsroom, mate?

Two sources as in two ITKunts on the Internet

I really can’t understand all the booing / Ade hate.

If you’re a passionate enough Spurs supporter to pay to see them on a regular basis. To pour your heart out on an internet forum, to argue with complete strangers to the point of insanity about things that have no bearing or substance to your life in the wider scheme of things. Then why in gods name, WHY wouldn’t you do everything within you power to help our beloved Tottenham Hotspur win every game they play.

What is to be gained from it? Will screaming CUNT at him, your face twisted in rage, suddenly metamorphasise him into a different player? The goal scorer we badly need. Will it spur him on to give that mythical 110%? Will he suddenly stand up and say “you know what, that fat prick screaming racist abuse at me is right, I should fuck off back to Africa?” The irony being that it was exactly that which set off this whole new spate of Ade hate in the first place.

The team have just started performing, not consistently, but we’re not underperforming consistently either. Do we really want to go back there? The infighting, the bickering, the abject-lifeless home atmospheres. The constant booing?

Short fucking memories some of you lot.

As for the Captaincy? The armbands where given out at the beginning of the season (I dont really care who by), before the manager had any idea of who would feature in his first team and follow his ideology. The decisions were made, and have to be stood by. Get over it.

That's a stretch. Everyone was sub par last night. Ade no worse than the 10 other plums who thought they just had to stroll about to win. Soldado might have won the penalty, but again for such a "premium" star he did NOT affect the game enough.

But him going on leave for unspecified reasons could mean anything and therefore surely it's unfair to give him much stick for something no one knows anything about?
Did you read the juju articles from his family members prior to him going on leave

What about AFCON's late return in the past?

The difference is everyone put themselves about apart from Ade. This was his opportunity to break into the team again and he was lacklustre. I agree that not everyone was up to scratch BUT at least they still wanted the ball, Ade was trying to spin off the shoulder of the defence all game and it was never going to work because they were playing so deep.

Anyone with an ounce of football knowledge knows that if they are defending so deep you have to drop off and come to collect the ball.

Soldado made a big difference when he came on, his energy, movement and willingness was so much higher than Ade's
