From what i've heard from my Russian colleague, there are very few pro AVB fans left in Zenit. He described it as boring shit football with a lot of sideways passing and an absurd focus on glorifying 1-0 victories and clean sheets.

I still have a soft spot for the ginger bearded one. Yes it all went wrong for him during his second season with Bale gone. Sounds like his resignation at Zenit is yet another set of directors not keeping promises about the squad. :avbfu:

I will never forget the victories against Utd at OT, Woolwich at The Lane, City at The Lane, the 2-3 at the Spanners.

As I said before just sit back and watch how AVB and Tim get on post spurs, no need for the arguments - just see what happens

I think Sherwood could do well being the new Harry Bassett, give him 10 games and a load of money and he'll steady ship, anything beyond that, we'll see. AVB still a strange one, seems to get so much right but he builds a beautiful yacht with holes in the bottom

AVB will go on to become the most successful manager we've had under ENIC (to date) - his CV to date alone trumps anything we've had

The other is a chancer who will be found out shortly

Oh I know, I just like sitting back and watching the real world do the talking

Unless Tim implodes completely I can still see him (if he uses his brain) making money as a relegation saver specialist but we will see if he can see that niche and exploit it

I mean if he wasn't at villa for example he could sit back go to a Sunderland and Newcastle in January and then quit in May and have 7 months off until next year

Yeah I've read stuff like that too, mostly from Russian press though - which AVB are feuding with as he can't handle that aspect of the game. I saw them beat Valencia last week and they didn't play boring football then, but I haven't seen enough of Zenit lately to really judge.

As a fan of Kaa Gent, i will witness their style of play soon enough and i hope its as shite as they say ...

And for your sake, I hope AVB doesn't channel his inner Mourinho (he was his scout at Inter no?) and grind out a boring 1-0 win. But he has been somewhat known for doing just that :avbdamn:
We dont expect anything from the games against them, the quality of the players and the budget they have compared to us should mean that they have a conformable win but then again so did Lyon and we put up one hell of a fight.

So we played Zenit at home yesterday and they won 2-1 thanks to Hulk but we (the smallest team in the CL atm) had about 60 % posession and caused them all sorts of problems because of the AVB approach to football. They score and park the bus, giving us the time and space to get into the game at which point we equalise. They try to put a bit more pressure but only through counter attacks and benefiting from their one star player. Very little fluency, very conservative football and lucking out thanks to one star player. At certain points in the game they were dominated by a tiny team from Belgium who's yearly budget is smaller then what they paid for Witsel ... Still happy that AVB didnt get more time at Spurs tbh.
