Still think we should cash in whilst his stock is so ridiculously high.

His end product compared to bale vs how people rate him against bale is off the chart.
And where are we gonna find another british winger at the same price thats actually BETTER than andros?
All that bitching about how low our gomegrown players count is and i hear alot of bullshit about selling probably our best homegrown.

:lamelawtf:

It's not so much that people want to sell Townsend, it's that Townsend according to the media is our best player. We fans are being smart in saying to cash in while the stock is high.

Not really what I was pointing at, though I think he is a much better option than Lennon and would be pissed to see him shipped out over Lennon, plus he can play both sides of the pitch.
My point was that all people want at the moment is to sell and buy players.
We did that last season and it got us no where...

Unless one/two of Paulinho/Eriksen/Dembele can consistently be a top EPL CM than neither townsend nor Lennon are good enough for our aspirations. I see Lennon's abilitity/age/potential/contract worth around 10m. I see Townsend's around the same. Except with Townsend the media is all over him and will hopefully dramatically increase that price. Levy has shown that he buys with the money he made from selling. So selling Townsend for a good fee could lead to a better winger (ie Konoplyonka) coming in for a similar price. Also, buying and selling - i see two clear disappointments - Lamela and Soldado. I think our buying in the summer can still be seen as good.

I don't think the media are all over him at all...
They were when the WC 2014 Qualifiers were happening, but then again, so were we!
He was playing well both for club and country, and no one wanted to sell him then.
He then got injured for a long time, has played about 3 times since coming back (improving each game mind you) and people want to sell?
If he starts playing well again, he will be starting 11 without a doubt.

I disagree. I remember seeing that people on here wanted to cash in. He has played twice since he has came back. I'm not basing this on the last two performances. If i were to base it on the last two performances I would say keep him at all costs. He was able to play double as well in his second game than his first: following that pattern, he will be a world beater in a mere few months. I can see him struggling to get a place in the team because of the CMs. Spurs fans flipped shit when Eriksen didn't start, when Bentaleb played over a CM, when Eriksen and Bentaleb were the CM pairing. So that must mean that Bentaleb + another midfielder + Eriksen playing. I can't see Sherwood playing Eriksen inverted on the left and then playing another inverted winger in Townsend. I see CMs taking playing time from Townsend.

I don't see how you can judge a player who hasn't been played due to injury :avbcringe:

Didn't say I am judging the choice to buy him. All I said is that he is a disappointment. Not a single person hoped that he basically wouldn't have played at all and when he did he was rather useless except one game. I've supported the choice to buy him, but no matter what anyone says, from when we bought him to today he is a disappointment.

Aye exactly. He hasn't had the fitness levels to be played in order to be a disappointment.

Thought he did well last night. Like to see him keep his place. Like any young player, needs a run in the team. Would be curious to see how he'd do on the left with Lennon on the right against the relegation fodder at home.

He was very good today. Definitely a positive to take from the game, beat his man almost every time and was probably our biggest threat other than Ade. Very selfless too, if he keeps that up he won't be losing his place for a while.

Hmmmm, not quite.
He is a fucking idiot, which really is a shame because he has great technique, can belt a shot, can run for days and like you said, he can beat most defenders. Stick a brain on him and he would be one hell of a player.

He was decent today but his end product is sooooo awful. Still want him starting over Lennon though because at least he can shoot and is not stupidly predictable like Lennon.
