If the end of the season comes around and we show zero improvement

It wasn't even new Manager bounce IMO. It was just so early that he hadn't had a chance to coach all the talent out of the players.
Most of them, if not all of them, have gotten worse the more they play under him.

I wouldn't be surprised if our league form doesn't improve, to see Levy do another Mourinho and bin him even if we're in the ropey league still.
It would be harder morally to sack him with a medal but there's so much smoke now about other managers that it feels like the decision has already been made.

It didn’t improve when all the players came back last season particularly so I can’t see it doing so this time either. That should flummox a few!

In the past 40 years spurs have got past the last 16 only 4 times.

1 ECL QF (2010/11)
1 ECL Final (2018/19)
2 X Europa QFs (2007 2013)

If you don't think getting into the QFs of Europa is not a big deal, you are deluded.

Mourinho couldn't do it. Conte couldn't do it, and the much celebrated Poch only managed it once.

It seems were are conditioned to celebrate qualifying for the competition instead of actually competing in it.

Ange has got us within 5 games of European glory. SUPPORT HIM.

The first sensible thing you’ve said in weeks and something that is entirely correct. It’s all levy celebrating being happy with achieving something without actually achieving anything.

European quarters are nice, definitely.

But the biggest team we've beaten to get there was AZ Alkmaar. AZ bloody Alkmaar, currently 6th in the Dutch league. And only just beat them. This is not a praiseworthy record, it's absolute bare minimum given our resources.

Why can't you see this?

Whilst he might be "factually correct" he's ignoring a LOT of nuance.

2014/2015
Lost 1 game in group phase (last one having already qualified)
Knocked out by Fiorentina in the first knockout stage, IIRC at 2-1 on agg away in the 2nd leg, Soldado missed an absolute sitter. Fiorentina got to the Semi and finished 4th in Serie A. They were a good side.
We also finished 5th in the PL whilst getting through to the league cup final and had to play that 2nd leg, away to Fiorentina, a few days before said final.

2015/2016
Lost game in group phase winning it in the process.
Avenged last season loss to Fiorentina with a 4-1 agg win in the R32
Lost in the R16 against a very good Tuchel led Dortmund. We changed the whole 11 as we were in the top 2 in the PL at the time.

In those seasons (and further seasons) the ropey league had an extra round of games to the CL. This season is a new format and we went straight from the group stage to the R16 so missed out the chance of an R32 exit but it not happening.

16/17
Struggled in the CL then "threw" the ropey league because, you know, title race with Chelsea.

17/18
Won our CL group without losing a game beating Madrid and Dortmund handsomely.
Lost in the R16 vs a very good Juve but we were the better side after the first 10 minutes of the first leg.
Finished 3rd in the league.

18/19
CL final and finished 4th

19/20
CL R16 lost to a very good Naggelsmann Leipzig team with a Timo Werner that scored for fun all season. Their squad was pretty damn good that year. Dani Olmo, Konate, Nkunku, Shick, Sabitzer and made it to the semi final themselves.

20/21 - strange format
3 wins from 3 for the pre qualifying
Won the group with 1 loss from 6
Hammered wolfsberg 8-1 on agg in R32
In R16 2-0 in the first leg and then flushed it down the shitter 3-0 away to Zagreb - probably led to Mourinho getting sacked. Ange would get a new contract.

22/23
Ropey conference league where we got knocked out due to forfeiting a game due to covid!
Also got back to the CL from the PL

23/24 (CL)
Won our group with 1 loss from 6
Lost to Milan 1-0 on agg in R16 in what can only be described as the Spursiest of Spursy seasons when everything that could go wrong at management level went wrong. Deaths, operations, meltdowns the lot.

No Europe for Ange's first season. First time for 15+ years?
With Europe in his next season the league season is the worst it's been for 15+ years.
He'll end up getting knocked out of the ropey league AND ballsing the PL up. Something no full time manager and even Tim Sherwood has managed since there was a 0 in the year.

I think if Postecoglou returns it will only be to lose the job by the January transfer window next season. A bit pointless, but at least it might finally convince his fans he can't succeed in the Premier League.

it's pretty ridiculous for a club of this size that has finished in Europe so often for the past 20 years has only made it to 4 QFs.

Think that's down to ENIC more so than managers, priorities all wrong. and failure is acceptable, it's fine you tried your best.
This actually might be the first time were there's actual pressure on the manager to win a European cup competition or it costs him his job, and some of the players who could well be shown the door with him

The man has been in charge for 496 days...220 of them days (44%) we've spent at P6 or below...155 days (31%) at P10 or below. Only 23% of his tenure we've been in the top 4.

My head coach.

Now let's see you spin that harry7 .

Ps:

My (8th richest in the world) club.

My (highest paid in the PL) chairman.

My (most expensive in the world) season ticket.

My (priciest build in the world) (non-gamechanging) stadium.

Top 4s our everything. CL is the clubs goal. That’s a fact.
This season the only way we can reach the CL is to win the EL.

Trophy before league is what plenty on here have said. Ange is doing exactly what people wanted!!

No reason to put dislike of Ange before their love of the club. “Love the shirt” in full effect. The ethos this forum was founded upon.

  • Ange Postacoglu #Spurs record breaking boss : Defeat at Chelsea on Thursday would see Ange become the first Tottenham boss to lose his first four league games against the Blues.
  • No side has earned fewer points in Premier League London derbies this season than Tottenham, who have lost five of nine such games this campaign (W3 D1).
  • From November 6th defeat to Chelsea, we have suffered more league defeats (27) than wins (22).
  • In total since Nov 5th 2023 before the Chelsea game at home we have lost 35 matches. Only four ever-present Premier League clubs have taken fewer points than us from then and we will drop two more places should we lose to Chelsea and Everton and West Ham win this week.
  • No shots on target in the opening 45 minutes at Fulham meant it was the ninth time we have failed to register a shot on target in the first half of an EPL match under Postecoglou, this is is more than our last two permanent managers combined - Antonio Conte (6) and Nuno Espirito Santo (2).
  • Our away form has also been horrendous Only relegation-threatened sides Leicester (10) and Southampton (12) have lost more Premier League away games this season than us (8).
  • We have lost a staggering 15 of our 29 games league taking us over over the 50% mark.We have lost 19 games in total so far with 11 games to go giving him a 43% win percentage
  • We a have PPG ave for the season so far of 1.17

The above is just a small snapshot of our managers absolute failure to progress our club since his appointment.

Trophy before league? Probably true, but it shows have crap he is.

He's been knocked out of two of them, and has been deeply unimpressive in the third.

But but but but but but but but - 2nd highest scorers in the league, mate.

As long as you don't count all those games where we didn't score or barely managed one fluke and lost all of them.
