I struggle with the injury thing for two reasons.

1. We’ve put out the same stinker of a performance against Leicester and Brighton with a fit squad

2. How much of our injury issues are down to Ange himself? The way we play and train puts the players bodies under huge strain. We’ve had the same issues at the same point the last two seasons

That blame also lies with the board for leaving the squad so thin.
Quite a bit I would say.

Main issue imho is board leaving us so thin. Compare and contrast our squad now with 2018.

I like the look of Bergvall, Gray, etc., they're talented kids, but I don't think it's right to expect them all to come in so early in the development and be our season basically.

I get why people are annoyed but Ange is a proven winner. Tottenham have been through plenty of managers and have found no solution to winning a trophy for a long time now. Ange isn't just interested in winning, he is at the club to improve the place from top to bottom in order to consistently win trophies. To get there, there will be bumps.

Every time Tottenham lose, I see a lot of people losing their mind on here. Based on what I read, it is time for Tottenham to stop using the motto "To Dare is to Do". A lot of fans here aren't brave enough to challenge the established order and lose their minds every time there is a set back. They want to see their team park that bus at certain times. How is that brave? How is that ambitious? Maybe the motto should be "We won't dare because we are to scared to do".

Support the manager and his methods whilst he is at the club.
Will you leave when he goes? Or before perhaps.
We don't like your guy. We don't want him here.

Yeah fair points.

No idea what happens in training, we seem to as a club always have issues with injuries. Even before Ange, a player would pick up a small injury and then it would escalate into a long time out.

The squad at the beginning of the season looked pretty good to me and I wouldn't have had any complaints at the time but due to the injuries and suspensions at such a crucial time of the season it's royally messed things up.

Someone like Richarlison who can't stay fit would have taking the pressure off Solanke who has been run into the ground.

Not getting in a decent replacement LB seems to be causing a problem too because it's taking its toll on Udogie who again is getting run into the ground.

Ange seemed to be doing a good job of rotating the midfield, i.e dropping Maddison, then Bentancur gets banned and its back to playing three times a week again.

Thursday/Sunday weeks are taking their toll, this season we have really struggled with it. In the past we didn't seem to struggle so much especially under Poch, god knows how we did it then.

The crunch games for Ange are Rangers away and United at home in the cup. If we lose both of them, he will deservedly be sacked.

It’s clear that our league season is already over but our only salvation is the cups. If Ange flops out of the Carabao and puts the EL in jeopardy then we can chuck him and at least get a new manager in so we can have a go at the FA Cup in January and try to save the EL.
I think we need to either sack him now so the gamble can at least have a window to get 1 or 2 of his own players in.
If Ange stays, I would actually back Levy not to back Ange tbh. Why waste money on a dead duck?
Couple of loans with no obligation at best.

At this stage I would be full Ange out if there was a credible person to come in and sort out the mess that is Tottenham Hotspur. But I can't think of a candidate. Nobody can turn this ship around. We are mediocre from top to bottom as a club and it seems to be by choice of the management.
There is plenty of good coaches out there.

Every year a new one pops up like the Fiorentina manager Raffaele Palladino...who did some great work at Monza who have now dropped like a stone since his departure.

I’m sick of the injuries excuse. Didn’t hear a word of that when we played Citeh though. Funny that.
Why is it Newcastle and Chelsea can walk all over us last season with injury ravaged sides, but we can't beat Fulham and fucking Bournemouth. Or even play half decent football.
Our injury ravaged team had 2 international CBs. 1 international LB. 2 international CM's. An international RW. An international LW. We had the 84 year in a row Korean player of the year come off the bench.
And yet we're got murdered by a team who's entire fan base can fit in 1 of our stands

We sold Hojbjerg who was a superb squad player and a Mr.reliable who would always do a job when he came in. I understand selling him but we replaced him with Archie Gray who we are using as a back up right back because we also sold Emerson without replacing him and the club clearly don't rate Spence as an able back up. We pretty much replaced Lo Celso with Bergval too which doesn't feel like an upgrade so far.

We needed this injury crisis to realise that our overall squad is actually probably worse than last season.

We also bought and played their best player 🤣

Yeah, its a shame those internationals are Wales, Romania, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Sweden.

Udogie has played a grand total of 111 minutes for Italy. Certainly not first choice.

On Ange: I've seen what he can do since his Brisbane Roar days. He is a proven winner and gets the teams to play football. When he was in the A-league, I was hoping that he would somehow end up at FC Porto (my club).

Minimum: Give him until the end of the season.

However, look at the squad and players brought in. Most won't peak for another few years.

Question: Who could come in and immediately challenge for the title and cups with this squad? No point changing a manager with a great philosophy to get the same results or worse.
We don't need to challenge for the title ffs. Just not finish in the bottom half.

This ain't a fucking pub league here.

My memory may be foggy but I think that some sort of major shift happened in our medical and sports science department midway through Poch's run. When the injury thing really picked up. So there must have been some sort of shake up behind closed door within the medical team. I know that one of our main sports science guys left and was replaced with Poch's kid (who has a degree tbf, but we were his first job).

We have also recently poached the head of sports science from West Ham for this season. But I assume that it will take some time for him to change things as well.

Just excuses upon excuses.

The amount of times I’ve seen “if we had x or y player”, but when they’re back, there’s no difference.

It’s the manager and tactics, compiled with those knobends at the top.

That’s the issue, but nothing will change so I guess we might as well get used to be an average football club with “the best stadium in the world TM”

A new manager would be hard at the moment…..team playing rubbish, half a team injured….hiding to nothing or good bit of leeway?

Fuck off you fat cunt

It's because Ange is not half as clued up as he thinks he is. He cannot fathom that what works in low grade leagues won't translate at this level with the players he has. I've reluctantly come to that conclusion but I'm pretty convinced of it now. He's a guy who has a combine harvester and he'll use it whatever the job. When he's bringing in the hay, it's golden. Lovely big square bales. But then he uses it to trim a front garden and leave it looking like a nuclear fallout waste land, or drives to Costa in it and smashes into Fiestas and Puntos on the way. His lack of flexibility is making him and us look foolish.

The guy's 60 years old. He's not changing and we're not winning at this elite level with him. No-one is.

But I'm also washed out as regards the Spurs manager circus, so right his moment can't summon up the energy to care if Ange stays or goes. The next manager will also have to deal with some Lange prospects and players with half their eye on a bigger prize. Until the rectal tape worm that is Daniel Levy is out of the club, this cycle will go on and on.

Lots to talk about on Ange, and he had a big part in this, but can we just recap some of the summer transfer narrative that we had on this site….

- Any notion than Son needed selling and replacing made you some sort of moron.

- Arguments than Johnson wasn’t good enough were met with the goals and assist police. I remember a large cohort of fans saying how much better than Luis Diaz he is based purely on stats. Laughable.

- Solanke was a game changer for us. How his pressing and goalscoring attributes (1 PL season) was the key to unlocking this side. I don’t want to dog Solanke too much because he hasn’t been terrible, but you only need to watch 5 games of his to realise he isn’t an elite player. He’s fine. Serviceable. Never a needle mover for us.

- Juxtapose that with Gyokeres, who was too big a risk because he was scoring in Portugal. We went for the prudent choice instead. What happened to “to dare is to do”. Surely we’d rather reach for the stars and fall short than settle for mediocrity?

- Archie Gray was going to be a huge upgrade on PEH. An 18 year old was going to be an upgrade on an experienced international who has been a leader for his country for years? I was not a fan of PEH, but we have missed his experience and energy particularly in tight games. I’m sure it was Richard Arlison (who by the way knows nothing about football from every single post I read of his) that said Gray would be playing for England by Xmas.

- Similarly, Gray was meant to provide robust cover at FB. He’s a very very very shit full back, doesn’t have the pace, doesn’t have the defensive nous, doesn’t have the man to man coverage. Spence must be watching him play there and scratching his head.

- Whilst there was broad agreement that the Werner signing was silly, when myself and others were calling for a proper signing at one of the wide forward positions, we got a lot of shit about how Odeberts stats showed he was perfect for us, and how the Werner signing, whilst not ideal, was astute in a way to not block Moore’s progression to the first team. It was so so obvious we needed a high quality wide forward, anyone (and I mean anyone) associated with the club that couldn’t see that needs sacking.

- As a fan base, we also used Chelsea as an illustration of dumb transfer policy and there were many claims of how much “smarter” we are than them. Now I’m not lauding their transfer strategy because quite frankly it’s both dumb and seemingly unsustainable, but what it does show is the importance of buying high quality players. They have plenty - even if some of their signings have been duds. We are as rich a club as them now. We should be focussing on how we get as many top players into key positions as possible. Moore and Lankshear will work their way through it’s they’re good enough!

None of this to exonerate Ange, but it does put into perspective how poor the summer window was and how much we’re paying for it now.
