I'm not that into watching football outside of Spurs that I can really make such a claim tbh.

But on the face of it there are enough parallels with Poch coming in from Southampton that the idea appeals to me.

He has massively overachieved with Bournemouth for a prolonged period, a wobble at this stage of the season is entirely forgivable.

He seems to be at just the right period of his career to come to a club like us, on the up, and still young and enthusiastic enough to put his all into the task.

He's gotten the best out of a group of young players, and made a team more than the sum of it's parts. He has a system that the players seem to be well coached in and comfortable with. He's not just ground out results with boring hoofball.

So I think his style of football (Iraolaball???) is the kind that's suited to being transferred over to a bigger club, whereas I don't get the same feeling from someone like a Thomas Frank.

He's gettable, or at least certainly should be for us.

I'm not all out Iraola or nothing by any strecth, but to me he just seems so much like the obvious choice, as such I imagine Levy and co will cock up the search and we'll end up with something utterly ridiculous instead.
Makes me laugh when simps try to beat on Bournemouth.
They barely have a right to be in the PL, yet they're 7 points off the CL places.
He's working miracles there. Their average PL finish is 14th in the 7 full seasons to date. That includes a relegation.
Their Average GD is -19
Their average points are 42

With 6 games to go this season they've already got 48 points - which is their joint best in a season. Also under Iraola.
They've also scored 52, 2 less than last season with 6 games to go. They've conceded 40 - their best by 21 goals so far.
He has improved them by every single metric available. The play better. They score more, they concede less, they get more points the lot.
It's possible we're actually underrating what a good job he's doing there, not overrating it.

They will probably cock it up one way or another, that’s for sure.

Let us not forget, HE was the one who started it all with the fans when he criticised us for not wanting to win the City game to hand the scum the title.

This man is an abusive gaslighter and frankly a fucking humongous cunt with a shallow and petulant personality that is a projection of his own insecurities.
I’m not going to lie; I knew nothing about Postecoglou when we hired him. I had been disappointed with the faffing around beforehand (Slot, Nagelsmann etc.).

I was, however, pleased after 10 games. Who wouldn’t be? 8 wins, 2 draws and the only blot an away loss in the Carabao Cup to Premiership opposition on penalties… but he’d rotated, so understandable.

Then came the infamous Chelsea game. (Sky Sports had had another manager on before outlining in detail how he had tried to beat Tottenham - which looking back annoys me, as I cannot recall the other big teams getting this sort of public display of “how to beat them”). He had a lot of generous spirit from the fanbase, which allowed him to get away with the (now much maligned) “it’s who we are” type comment. A lot of the fanbase loved it. “Yes! We are sticking it to the man!”

I was, however, prepared to cut some slack over the next couple of defeats, as 3 of his back 5 were gone. What helped him here was a spirited 3-3 vs defending Champions Man City and a 4-1 victory over Newcastle (sort of avenging the massive defeat at St James at the end of the previous season)…

In March, so 13 months ago… the Fulham game happened… and the poor run that followed, plus the Man City/Woolwich debacle. I get it… as an employee of THFC, his job is to win as many games as is possible… but without the fans, the club is NOTHING. He just had to pooh-pooh and bat away that topic… but he didn’t. That left an enormously sour taste.

Then there is this season; where the football team, some small patches aside, have been worse than at any point in my 43 years of life (not just my 37 years of supporting). He’s been shown up in every way and the only reason he isn’t at the top of my list of disdain is because Sol Campbell is there and Daniel Levy is holding onto Campbell’s coattails.

Taking on the fans? That’s a massive no-no, Mr Downwards-staring Cough-o-matic 6000.

undoubtedly he has done well... but how would he juggle the small squad he has if he was playing Thursday/Sunday/Thursday? Would need to see another season or two out of Iraola before I jump on the bandwagon. Also, managing a team where you lose your best two players every season and have to replace them with low cost gambles and working in an environment where the only expectation is survival is a much different set of parameters than what he would face at Spurs... would we be okay with winning on average 2 in 5 games and finishing 12th. If you answer yes, Iraola is your man... or maybe try a different question... would you back Bournemouth to finish above Spurs next season? I don't even know if I would take that bet, even if Ange is still here.

Basically Iraola is doing everything Postecoglu isn't and more importantly he's improved virtually every player at Bournemouth, where as virtually all the players at Spurs have regressed.

I think he might have a learning curve, but that's the great thing, he's young and still learning himself. Unlike the one dimensional dinosaur we have now. Poch was pretty poor in Europe in his first 2 seasons then we get to a Champions League 1/4 final Vs Juve then a final.
All while keeping us competitive in the league.
I would rather we are up in the European positions in the PL than going deep IN Europe. That's too "all or nothing" for me. What's the point in killing your bread and butter form to go out in the later rounds of Europe?

The sad thing is we are 100% sacking him Friday morning after we get knocked out of Europe. Just a shame we can't get it done now and actually give ourselves a chance of going through.

We'll be 2-0 down after 20 mins on Thursday. Its so fucking obvious. We know exactly what Ange will do. We'll be playing out from the back and managing the game all wrong against what will be a high press and a very intense atmostphere. We'll be 2-0 down before we start playing

Well my friend, I have some good news for you on that front for next season...

:ange-arms:

Also I don't see the point in winning this European cup with him as the manager. It'll be like Ten Hag at United last year. If anything we'll end up keeping him even though we know he's not good enough and not learning from his mistakes. Imagine how beautiful it would be if Ryan Mason was the manager and we won the cup. It would really make you proud to be a fan.

That ship has sailed with Ange - he clearly hates the fans and never recovered from questioning us not wanting Woolwich to win the league last year. He didn't back it up. Imagine if we did beat Man City last year and won Woolwich the league? We might have got top 4... BIG DEAL! We'd have embarrassed ourselves in that new 32 team format under Ange and would be out of Europe and still down in 14th.... It would have achieved nothing, only would have won Woolwich a league. We were right to want to lose that day even though he went out of his way to embarrass us over it.

Unless it's a massacre and there's fans revolting in the stands, it'll be after the season is done.

Bloody hell, thats 43 pts from our last 39 league games. Its just unreal and it makes me hate the false equivalence of the 'Redknapp, Poch and Conte failed as well' gaslighters even more.
1.1ppg
Absolute dogshit.
But that equates to 42 points in a 38 game season.
We ain't getting that this season.
40 points would be 1.05ppg
37 would be 0.97ppg

Seriously.

There are people, with a pulse, that still believe this can work out.

I think it's about time we stop being nice to the remaining Ange supporters.

If we had anything on the line in the league I'd be inclined to agree with you, since however bad Ange has been we saw the absolutely colossal downturn in form we underwent after Conte was replaced by Stellini then Mason, however I think Levy is astute enough to know the best available option to him once we crash out on Thursday is to bin Ange and let Mason/Wells take control of the team til the end of the season. There are 6 league games left of the season after Frankfurt and if Ange is left in charge for them the atmosphere will be absolutely poisonous for every home fixture, we'll be raked over the coals by the media for our continued inaction over sacking him (universally everyone in the football world can see he still has his job because of the EL QF) and the "will he won't he" be sacked conversation will dominate any discourse around the club until he is gone.

Frankly I want him to stay to the end of the season purely for the fact he will mathematically go down as the worst Tottenham Hotspur manager in history by any metric you care to measure, an accolade he deserves after how much of a massive thundercunt he has been to the fans for the last 12+ months, and the sort of unwanted title that could absolutely be an albatross around his neck when it comes to finding a new club in a serious competition.
