You have an England flag in your avi and before that I think it was Muller because you like raumdeuters or something. I'm not even sure if you really know if you want us to win the EL, let alone know what I will say if we do.

It was Muller because my name was Raumdeuterz, it really wasn’t that deep.

OH NO!! If I made my avatar a complete waste of our time like yours, would it make me a top fan too?

I know what you’ll say. You’re insane but you’re predictably insane.

Jesus wept, our attacking play last night was bloody atrocious. 2 goals from open play against a half strength Norwegian team, with our brilliant crowd atmosphere. Our coaching staff are useless and our front 3 are poor. Do t excited when we get a corner, when do we ever score from one, hardly ever. Most dangerous player at a corner is Romero. What does that say for Richy and Solanke.

You have no idea what I'll say but the fact that you feel the need to preemptively diminish this club winning a European trophy, just in case I say what you are terrified I'll say...that is predictably insane, mate.

At 3 nil we were cruising, Bodø offered nothing and it was a pretty easy game for us. However, the last 30 mins (injuries didn’t help) but it was like the players either went to sleep or weren’t receiving any instructions on what to do. There was a clear plan in the first half but nothing in the last 30. What should have been 3 nil or even greater finished 3-1 and has given Bodo hope… especially on a pitch that we’ve already fluffed our lines once this season.

The overload they had in midfield because kulusevski vacated Maddison’s midfield area. It was a stupid sub. We said in the ground at the time the answer was to bring Sarr on.

No I absolutely do. You're gagging to say it already.

It's nothing to do with diminishing it - it's accepting it for what it is. Most sensible people on here can admit its low in terms of quality but an awesome opportunity to win something.

You & others on the other hand want to big up the likes of Richy for heading it across vs Norwegian farmers, or Ange for achieving it. Ange can fuck off. It's a club victory if we manage it, not a him victory. He shouldn't even still fucking be here.

Exactly this, is high line, direct football, they actually go route one constantly and play all out attack which leaves acres of space when you play through their press. Its not even like they have elite defenders to cover, arguably our back 4 is better than theirs, but what they do have is world class midfielders and attackers.

The modern Barca story and style of play is fascinating.

Yes their midfielders and attackers are better than ours but if you look at their star youngsters, most of them have only made it due to the huge financial mess Barca found themselves in. They chucked them in at the deep end, several looked like they would drown but 1-2 seasons later and they have half a dozen quality/world class kids in the team. For reference:
- Balde - 21 - value €59.6m
- Cubrasi - 18 - value €71.5m
- Casado - 21 - value €29.4m
- Gavi - 20 - value €73.5m
- Fermin Lopez - 21 - value €50.3m
- Pedri - 22 - value €124.2m
- Yamal - 17 - value €199.1m

Barca have a combination of experience and a shed load of quality youngsters. They play a high line, attack as a team and then flood back to bail out their defence.

They play a similar style to early Ange tactics but the major difference is they:
a) play as a team
b) they’re all comfortable with the ball at their feet
c) when in possession and high up the pitch you can still see clear distinctive positions from defence, through to midfield and attack

Whereas if you look at the Ange version we’ve gaping holes everywhere. The Flick version has proven to be successful but we can’t apply it with our current squad as it’s far from compatible.

United will get to the final. No doubt at all. Us, I say it's 70:30.

Correct.

There was nothing more unfair in that world of unfairness than allowing CL dropouts another chance in another competition. Utterly perverse.

So yes, easier to win but does not diminish anything, and if we were to win the thing, not one of us would celebrate with any less intensity than if we won the CL,FA Cup or anything.

Put simply, winning a trophy of note would send us into euphoric and collective rapture.

So, fcuk Sunday and let's preserve every bit of energy for next week, do as we did yesterday, and then ready ourselves for the 21st.

By God man, we are the mighty Spurs didn't you know!!!!
I agree. My trophy rankings (as in, order of what I'd like us to win, rather than difficulty to win):

CL, PL, EL, FA, CC, ECL, AC*

*Audi Cup

It wasn’t that bad. Unlike most games where we look toothless, there was a clear plan in the first half. Defence splitting long balls, Richi providing aerial support etc

This worked well, not great but well. 2 nil up at half time with Bodo only having one half chance just before the break.

However, we did have several counter attacks that failed to deliver a chance never mind an outcome. From that aspect it wasn’t good enough. You need to be clinical and especially against a team we’re expected to beat comfortably. Kill them in the first leg, be professional in the second.

Taking Richarlison off at half time was bizarre though as Tel isn’t as much of a threat as Odobert and Johnson, well he either scores or does bugger all. The sub changed the dynamic of the game and not for the better. We lost a presence and a clear threat in the penalty area.

The last 30 we created next to nothing… there’s a difference between seeing out a game and completely taking your foot off the gas.

Overall it finished 3-1 and it was a comfortable victory (barring a few jitters at the end) but did we make the most of the opportunity to in effect finish the tie, no we didn’t.

Ange seems to have fucked up again with his subs? Richie would have been absolutely desperate for a goal last night. Should have kept him on. And brought on Sarr.

It's not at all, Barcelona are an incredibly direct team who get the ball to their forwards quickly, Tika Taka focuses on possession and recycling the ball and making short passes.

Flick's style is similar to Ange's, there's nothing wrong in saying that - that doesn't mean they're on the same coaching level.
Barca dominates almost every team they meet - averaging around 70 % of possession - so it's limited how direct they can play as most teams park the "bus", so they're still reliant on recycling the ball in MF and in front of the parked "bus".

Just because they 'dominate' it doesn't mean they're playing Tika Taka.

There's a distinctive difference to how Flick plays and how quick they get the ball forward compared to how Pep played with Barcelona, no-one has played like that since Pep and he doesn't even play it anymore.

Flick is an incredibly direct coach , he was the same at Bayern - the reason his teams dominate matches because they normally win the ball high up and keep teams hemmed in - Ange preaches the same philosophy.

The difference between the styles is that Flick likes to keep one full back wide whilst the other one underlaps whilst Ange likes both his full backs to underlap but the principes are the same...both coaches like to use the half way line as an extra defender and use attacking with the ball as a way as defending, both like to engage a high press, both are direct and get the ball forward and take risks.

Flick is obviously a better and more experienced coach than Ange.
