Worse still is what makes anyone think his yes or no players is gonna be any good. If we get more Tels, Werner’s etc we are doomed.Ok, let's say our best players have a good start. What happens when they start dropping? - because if we're in CL, they will for sure. No question. Ange has shown zero ability to coach the B team how to defend as a unit in times of crisis. Our midfield is one big gaper. What makes you think this will change? There is no evidence whatsoever.
If we don’t win tmrw I don’t see how his position is tenable. I’m sure he’d resign Thursday morning as no way he takes charge of Brighton game. He’d be picking fights with everyone. Prbly more dignified exit by resigning before.
Porro we already got before Ange. Paratici was prbly behind signing Vic. MADDs was well early in the transfer window so we probably already done the leg work. Sarr has regressed this season. Spence yes his been a find but he completely ignored for nearly half the season even after saving his skin v cov in LC. Could go on…I do love a rational balanced opinion.
Let's examine things ;
He inherited an ageing goalkeeper with no competition has he replaced and improved on that situation he/ they brought in a youngish unheard of Italian and a young hungry Kinsky, neither are better than Hugo at peak but imo there's genuine competition there now ...
A right wing back that was effective going forward but couldn't defend. For shit . is that situation improved.. has to be a yes
THe lack of a center bac pairing .. brought in van the man... Him and rom MATCH FIT
aBsolute top class
a left bac situation with possibilities. He's brought through Udu MATCH FIT absolutely TOP draw player
Spence a refugee under previous cantankerous management...we now have a player who can effectively cover both left and right bac .. not many of those around.
Midfield ... Lacked vision and creativity... Brought in Mad's match fit and on his day plays on a different level..
He's brought through sarr and brought somewhere near the best out of biss' whereas b4 under Conte I very rarely saw him make forward pass .. like he was absolutely afraid to f##c up, he is a bit hit and miss .. but he's showing signs of the player we thought he was
Johnson and gray.. I'm putting them together as I'm wondering if our director of football was a victim of buying the glossy image that nepotism can create and ignoring other factors . BOTH came from clubs that parents were entrenched in legendary status. And arguably were never going to fail there. whilst you cant argue with Johnsons goal scoring .. and his pace is unquestionable his overall skill set is not great. And gray .. ignoring the idolator lavish media attention he was given during his extended run .. it totally ignored that game in game out his errors that WERE costly .. and we've seen enuf recently to question if his skill set is up to the prem.. maybe with both ang will improve them . Time will tell
Ang lost 25 to 30 goals a season when kane left..which ever side of the fence you sit with kane .. THAT'S A SIGNIFICANT BLOW .. he/we needed reinforcements asap and in a limited market bought In a bang inform center forward at an over inflated price, who grafts and has 100% bought into the team ethic . BUT unfortunately as yet hasn't quite delivered.. tbh I've got a y class to get to and the dog needs walking so I've got to go. But there's loads more plus's that just make your pub manager quote look absolutely what it is.. Sunday morning pub talk.
Plus Europa now is so watered down with more teams gaining entry to CL plus no more drop outs. So really is mid table farmers league clubs. The only way that can be proven is to give both coaches both squads and see what they do.
Otherwise it's just opinion and educated guesswork.
My educated guess is Ange would drag Poch's team downwards and Poch would drag this team upwards.
Even if we win the Europa league this season, it doesn't mean we've achieved more, IMO. We have litterally sacrificed one competition for another. Exactly what Poch did in the days we were in the Europa league but vice versa.
If you are willing to accept poor league form domestically, getting to the Europa League final and potentially winning it is far easier than 4 top 4 finishes, including 2 title challenges.
I’m sure that last paragraph is what some one posted about Ange after Fulham game last season. Although now that long term view is binned just for Ange’s ego.100% this - people forget or don't care what Poch and that team actually achieved which was making Spurs respected and competitive consistently for years despite things going against us like the owners lack of ambition, bad recruitment (or none at all for 18 months) and losing our home after an unbeaten season there to go to the shithole that is Wembley and STILL compete at the top end of the league.
Winning a pot does not in any way make Ange more successful because football doesn't work that way - we have seen it before as you mentioned with Ramos.
Longevity, consistency and building a squad and club that competes at the top end is what we should be about - not the odd cup as much as I would love it of course, we need both to happen to really progress.
Wonder how that conversation wentWatching his presser was just asked if it could be his penultimate game with the club and he basically said it doesn’t matter, big opportunity for the club to win something and he will continue competing for trophies wherever he ends up.
Definitely sounds like he has been told he won’t be here next season already.
Yes - I agree with that. What I'm saying is that despite what will be understandable euphoria if we win, and the Ange-cult going full Robbie Williams, it would still be a huge mistake to keep him beyond the end of this month.Honestly if that's the outcome of us winning tomorrow, I'll take it with both hands. I have seen the club in a mess for over two decades, what's another year? The win tomorrow will get us to savour for years to come.
For us right now, yes. I agree. But next season - IF we win tomorrow night - I'd rather (say) come top 5 and win nothing, than come 17th getting pumped left right and chelsea all season and win the EL again. Though I think it would be about 50/50 that Ange would take us down given another full season. Think the bottom three might not be quite as shite next seasons - they usually aren't.I don’t disagree, a trophy isn’t going to make Ange the right man for the job, but if the options are between winning a major European trophy and going through another bottom half league season or losing the final, getting a new manager in and having improved results next season, I’m choosing the trophy every single time.
A new manager ain’t getting us a league title in their first year and barring that, European glory tomorrow night trumps all other league positions in my view.
I think levy has taken a big gamble keeping him on and not binning him back in November or any other numerous times. Therefore I don’t think will do another gamble and keep him here for transfer window, pre season and first few games of next season for it to all blow up. Best to cut the chord now and prepare properly with a new manger.I'm the same, and I've wanted him sacked for over a year now.
He's made being a Spurs fan miserable. Utterly miserable.
However if we win tomorrow, I couldn't give a fuck if he stays (he won't). Because if he starts next season here, unless he starts the season by winning 6 straight games in the league, he'd be under immense pressure and he'll be sacked.
Just imagine he starts next season, after finishing 17th this season, and it's LLL or LDL or even LWL. If there's more than one or two losses in his first 6 games, he'll be sacked.
It's all pointless anyway because he's 100% getting sacked in a week or two.
Don't worry 35pts is usually enoughFor us right now, yes. I agree. But next season - IF we win tomorrow night - I'd rather (say) come top 5 and win nothing, than come 17th getting pumped left right and chelsea all season and win the EL again. Though I think it would be about 50/50 that Ange would take us down given another full season. Think the bottom three might not be quite as shite next seasons - they usually aren't.
Good for Ange on his presser. And when/if we win tomorrow I hope we tells them all to fuck off .
And I hope our next manager has enough of a spine to call out some of the slimeballs in the press next season also when they write garbage
True. Did the journalist write the headline? Maybe not, usually it’s a copy editor but the piece itself is fine. It's the clickbait title that's the problem. Nothing in the article is wrong.
