That would be terrible....if it was remotely true. This JUST when first choice defence starts, not allowing for other creative players being available.

Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham side's results vary significantly based on the availability of their first-choice defense. When the full back five (Vicario, Van de Ven, Romero, Porro, and Udogie) is available, they have a strong record, achieving 1.88 points per game. However, in games without this starting defense, their points per game drop to 1.47. This highlights the team's reliance on their key defensive players and the impact of injuries or suspensions on their performance.
Elaboration:
Strong Record with Full Back Five:
In the 25 games where the starting back five was available, Tottenham secured 14 wins, 5 draws, and 6 losses, resulting in 1.88 points per game.

We finished far behind many teams with worse CBs than our backups- not that Ange knew how to coach and improve them anyways.

In the end although to get the trophy we had 25% pocession which must one of the lowest ever. Even forest manage more. It was pure Jose / conte ball to the max. Which is what most people didn’t want. If he can’t marry the attacking football with some solidity then we are in for same as this season in the league.

It was no risk football in the second half to minimise United chances, it worked.

Perfect night,

Just checking, do some people just look at the stats of the night merely regurgitate them, and forget context.

My memory may be shot, but if I recall correctly - Maddison, Kulu and Bergvall weren't in the middle of the park. So if they're not there - do you think other players play the same way? One soldier one, one solider out mentality.

But of course Ange isn't flexible...mmmm.... and cannot adapt to the current context of which players are available and being strategic in how to best manage that context for an outcome.

The bullshit narrative that he is naive , incompetent, inflexible that persists due to some hang up about where we finish in the table - when in the end 7-17th does not matter one jot, when it was about getting a trophy to reward cultural change.

Tell me you know nothing about football...

Onwards and upwards :)

Can't agree with that at all. You had an 18/19 year old midfielder from the Championship with no experience playing as a starter in the backline because he was the best choice and and there's "many teams" with worse starters? Interested to know which clubs have worse starting CB's than a pairing of an 18 year old Archie Gray and Ben Davies? Can't imagine many swapping their two starters for that.

It's misleading to say Levy has never provided the resources. Levy doesn't have the resources. Lewis has the resources. Lewis has never provided the resources.
*ENIC* has never invested in the club in a way that could create or justify a "PL/CL championship or nothing" mentality.

They have however operated with a "4th place or nothing" mentality while investing in the club at a level that doesn't justify that mentality either but at least gets in the ballpark if you're in the mood to be forgiving.

The problem is that mentality sucks, and is unsustainable, as our pal Lego Man is now caught in the trap of.

Well its hard to define what "CL/PL championship or nothing" spending is within a realistic framework. Basically only Chelsea and City have spent at a level to have those expectations, and both have operated on fraudulent finances provided by oil states/ex-soviet oligarchs.

ENIC haven't spent enough, my point was just that its not Levy's money so blaming him is misleading.

Hopefully the shot in the arm of a trophy and qualifying for the CL will encourage everyone to push on. We've cleared a lot of deadwood and have the ability to add quality to this squad.

You think we went into this season with a Manager tahay has the ability to compete in all 4 comps??
Well neither manager nor squad are fit for 4 competitions, and it won't be any different next year if we return the manager and the system and say it's all good enough for CL football.

Levy will have heard the message that the squad's depth was levels below what's required for so many matches, and I expect he'll attempt to improve its depth - with bargain signings, young players on low wages, loan and reclamation projects, all else. Adding to the bottom and not much to the top.

No one who hasn't just arrived will expect Levy to make signings that will put us in danger of finishing in the CL places, because it would require too much investment. Prolonging our stay in 4 competitions will surely be the priority. There's no hope of winning the league or the CL.

If he returns Ange we can easily see the objectives from here, to remain in the CL as late as possible and to attempt one of the domestic cups. The talent level is too far off being able to dream about anything bigger, and so is the manager.

Some will chime in at this point saying "I'll take that, who cares about the league or the CL, give me a Carabao". But we are 17th. We aren't winning a competition where we have to clear aside PL club after PL club.

The "Ange brought us a piece of silver, bring him back for more" falls flat when you consider the chances of that occurring next year at all.

With all sincerity - Thanks for the Europa League trophy Ange.

So let’s part friends - Good luck back in the lower leagues where I’m sure you’ll enjoy more success - and enjoy your payout from Levy.

I agree, the best chance of any silverware next season is a good draw in one of the domestic cups, and one final game won at Wembley. But with this squad and our pattern of investment all we can hope for is going out in the first cup round I CL and maybe fight for a Europa place in the league. That's with a new manager, like Frank, Glasner, Iraola, Italiano etc. Keeping Ange doesn't give me much hope. I know he won us a title, but..

I'm not here to argue the merits of Poch, I'm just saying it's a possibility if season 3 of Ange goes tits up, Poch would be available after the World Cup - the club would be stupid not to consider him.
I just said I wouldn’t be particularly overwhelmed by the appointment of him.

From the get go ENIC/Levy have always said the club will be built around a self sustainable model. It really comes down to if you want to be a City/Chelsea/Newcastle or have a proudness in you that if even at the tiniest level feel we have went about things the *right* way.

Some fans rebuttal *if we were state owned and winning you would not care* I’ve always said I would care. If you are a supporter who wants the big invester owner, at some point you are gonna get a Superleage, even when you get a league of massively backed clubs your owner ever gonna get one champion, 3-4 available trophies into even a small league of say 20, cannot satisfy everyone. No gaurantee we would be one of them.
