Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Its a tough call.

- Sack a manager who has brought the first european trophy to Spurs for 41 years invites ridicule if the manager coming in has anything other than a decent first season (and what is that, is coming 5th and getting to Last 16 or quarter finals of CL regarded as a success for a new manager ?)
- Retain Ange who is a good man motivator and persuade him to take on some tactical geniuses as assistant coaches, whilst also bringing in the best 3 players who can be persuaded to join Spurs and 2 or 3 others (plus bring in 2 or 3 youngsters such as Devine and Donley) ......... and hope he can also get 5th place and quarter finals of CL.

Which has the highest probability of happening ? Which has the lowest risk of failure ?

I recall Alex Ferguson succeeding a once very well respected Ron Atkinson as manager at ManU ....... Ferguson was almost sacked after not a great start, lucked it out to go onto being a great manager. But fine margins as to whether Atkinson's sacking and Ferguson's appointment was the correct call in the first year or two, could have easily gone pear shaped.

Levy :

"Dear all, We did it. What an unforgettable night it was in Bilbao as we ended our long wait for glory," it read. "This is a huge moment for the whole club, an historic achievement that sees us lift our first European trophy since 1984.

This club has been on an incredible journey on and off the pitch since we last won silverware, the League Cup, in 2008 – establishing ourselves as one of the biggest in Europe, moving into our new stadium and experiencing some incredible moments – we knew a trophy was the missing piece.

We’ve come so close on a number of occasions and never quite got over the line – I have never wavered from the belief that success is just around the corner.

I’d like to thank Ange and the players for making this incredible achievement possible and thanks to all of our amazing staff – there is so much hard work that goes on behind the scenes and this moment is for everyone to enjoy.''

Hmmmm.

Every single team we beat in the knockouts in 2019 and two of the teams we played in the groups would’ve smashed this current team silly.

And that Liverpool team in the final would’ve ran through Ange’s team without any resistance. A worse Liverpool side has battered us in to oblivion this season.

Winning is winning.

You don’t get trophies for who you beat on your way to finishing second.

I doubt Ange would take too kindly to be 'advised' to change up the coaching and try playing a different way .Next season in all likelihood we will have the two cups at home that we could have a chance in ,the league and CL are completely off the table .Unfortunately I can see him here for the start and then get the boot so a scramble then to see who we can try next .

I’ve wanted Ange out since November. I saw the writing on the wall as early as the Chelsea game at home in his first season, and it was clear to me then that something wasn’t quite right. That opinion hasn’t changed.

But here’s the thing: it’s not black and white. Some of the attitudes on here are ridiculous. Acting like their view makes them a better fan or somehow more “right.” We’re all Spurs fans. We see things differently, and that’s okay.

I’m absolutely over the moon we’ve finally ended the 17 year wait for a trophy, 40 for a European trophy. It means something. I don’t care who we beat or what others say about the competition. A trophy is a trophy, and plenty of fans from other clubs are envious whether they like to admit it or not.

At the same time, that doesn’t erase how poor we’ve been in the league. Ange has failed miserably in that regard. Still, I don’t think he should be sacked just yet. Whether that’s right or wrong. In my opinion, he’s earned the right to start next season, regardless of mine or others thoughts on him. but, let’s not sugarcoat things — I think we will still be stumbling by November, and can see the club making a change.

I hope he turns it around. I’d love for him to prove me wrong. But being happy about a trophy doesn’t mean ignoring the problems. We can celebrate and still hold standards — that’s what being a proper fan is all about.
Well put, I was firmly out because how could you not be with that league form? Now I'm firmly in for the start of the season, because I am riding a wave of positivity that's meant far more to me than any other supporting moment in my history. You can't legislate for emotion and how that can dramatically alter how you approach rhyme or reason. It's a romantic game and I would always hope to side with the romantic side where possible

Neither played 60 games this season. Just saying.
Well we're going to need to get a manager who can handle playing that many games, and Ange has shown he can't do it.

Iraola I have doubts about, but I do like Frank a lot. He'll get way more money to spend here which is meant to help deal with playing more games.

I'd also expect to see less hamstring injuries under him.

Why would they when he's managing in oceania regions most of his career?
So there can be other reasons for being discovered late than not being good enough. Yet for Frank you assume its because he isn't good even though he isn't that old for a manager.

Frank's only been managing first team football since 2018, so why are you holding that against him? Ferguson was managing for a decade before going to Utd and he wasn't that much younger than Frank is now.

I haven’t spoken to one single Spurs fan in real life that wants Ange sacked.

Not even slightly tempted.

This idea of replacing Ange with Thomas Frank only exists on the internet.
See that’s interesting for me it’s complete opposite. Social media right now has swung to a majority wanting ange to stay but every spurs fan i know in real life still wants him gone.

Was down at the parade with 8 of my guys and every single one shares the same view as me that it’s the perfect time for both parties to leave , even the ones who were backing him up Til around March time haven’t switched up again.

I’m intrigued how it’s going to be viewed if he is sacked, I can see social media being furious with the decision but it being more even with the match going fans, but could be wrong could just be my spurs bubble sharing a similar view that isn’t shared by the masses.

Maybe we can do our own "Evans/Houllier" experiment (for those old enough to remember).

Ange can be our cup manager and we'll hire someone to manage the league team.

Wouldn't actually surprise me if, in the future, clubs have that kind of split - what with the number of games (see club world cup) and players you'd need to get close to a treble/quad these days

had a little watch of that, hes a football scientist compared to ange. i just wonder if frank has the charisma for a top job. ange is obviously a monkey compared to him when it comes to the science of the game, but he can get players fired up for the occasional big game, do you think frank has that ability too? i think you need a bit of raw emotion in football at times.

theres no doubt about it that hes a big upgrade (not hard). but i do feel we really need to get this one right now, weve got a huge lifeline here. the next manager has to be the perfect appointment.
Ask yourself this: when have you ever watched Brentford and thought they were lacking for effort, or that they weren't playing for thier manager?

If anything, they are one of the top 3 in the league for persistent, driven endeavour imo.

Just read Levys end of season message, he’s gone. Levy would 100% be milking Ange being the one to end the cup drought and pushing us on next season. I expect during the next week we’ll hear that he’s gone, I assume Paratici has names lined up and we’re not going to wait until pre-season starts in July to start conducting interviews.

Yep and Frank is pretty meh , if you're gonna get a manager from a mid table team then it would be glasner who are least has Europa and now fa cup success
Not Mr milquetoast
