In 2 seasons, he finished 5th without Kane and won our biggest trophy in 41 years.
He's comfortably our most successful manager in the modern era. He also had our worst league season in the modern era but the last 2 managers to have seasons as bad in the league were Bill Nich and Keith Burkinshaw.
Obviously people are struggling to adjust to the fact that someone they were sure they were "right" about has miraculously turned into the one who gave us all the best night of our lives as Spurs fans but in time, they will get there.
If we were a club that expected or even seriously tried to win the PL then it would be a different argument but under these owners we aren't so in reality, and in time, that league season will come to mean literally nothing. The EL win means something forever. Permanently etched into our memories long after anyone remembers what some spurs fan said online.
I do suspect that a lot of the vitriol of the usual suspects comes from them knowing that they can't take any real joy out of this trophy because it undermines everything they've said for 18 months. So all they have left now is the manager's scalp - because that's their only "trophy" left.
It is unfathomably sad for them. That night in Bilbao and the parade afterwards was joy injected into veins. Imagine not really truly being able to feel part of that because you called the manager a "fat cunt" cos you're so edgy...
