Conte was also a quick fix after the Nuno appointment. He’s taken the short term contract on big wages and laughed his way to the bank.
Levy’s fault for recruiting him though. No long term plan. But I feel he was just trying to keep Kane at the club.
In hindsight every decision except for the appointment of Nuno just screams Levy trying to keep Kane at the club. He’s taken the short term contract on big wages and laughed his way to the bank.

Exactly. The same thinking that sold Walker for £50m (good business at the time) and is currently seeing us at £100m and counting to not replace him. And haggling over Porro; none of us know how good Porro would be in this league, but he's looked a player over there. But then Doherty looked decent enough for Wolves, Trippier looked solid for Burnley - both were signed on the basis of offensive output, which they never really replicated at Spurs.
Trippier was an excellent player for us (only our stupidest fans wanted to get rid of him)....
Trippier was an excellent player for us (only our stupidest fans wanted to get rid of him), that is exactly the type of signing we should be doing more of. Even a player like Doherty is better than Reguilon at double the price.
Save the big money for high profile signings and get a few home grown, PL proven lads to round out the squad. Having Dan Burn (and Trippier) in the team isn't doing Newcastle any harm. We could have got someone like Ben Mee on a free and it is impossible that he could be worse than Lenglet.
Appease him without actually investing in the right players around him to win, which is the reason he wants to leave. In hindsight every decision except for the appointment of Nuno just screams Levy trying to keep Kane at the club.
All short term decisions to try and appease the star man.
The club is an absolute mess.
I have no faith in these current owners to make the right decison now.
Fine - Conte goes but what is the plan?
Is there going to be a strategy?
Is player recruitment going to be improved?
Are we going to get an attack minded manager?
What is the ambition for the club? Winning trophies or 4th place every season?
The fans should demand answers beacuse it just isnt good enough - the continuous failing of the board to back managers or make the right appointment is shocking.

I think that was more understandable because Poch had openly declared (before the CL final) that he would rather not continue with us. The fire had gone out of his eyes after losing the CL and the only way to bring it back was to spend big on quality, which was never going to happen. The same thing is now happening to Conte. An opportunity has been wasted and now his passion has gone.
So our shit players now have 5 months of playing for a manager they know is leaving?
I’m sure that will make them less shit
This
Football is an emotional event. We can all talk technical and spreadsheet but 50% is the human element, something the club fails to understand. If you burn through a managers goodwill eventually there is little left.
Our plans appear to be to take top quality managers and rather than back and build with them simply burn them out until the sacking and the next one can start. It’s the ideology of the sweatshop owner.
