Honestly this might be a subject better suited for the Rose thread. But I think Ben's development is a fair factor in Rose's interview in August. Rose has realized after spending such a long time out and seeing Ben improve that he is no longer in-disposable for us. He'll actually have to fight for a spot now.

Ben is becoming a real versatile player. A bit of a swizz army knife in defense. That consummate hard worker that can work multiple positions just like Dier.

Rose has completely fucked himself. Davies has been excellent and defensively solid.

Bet he feels like a right twat for doing that interview, be lucky if anyone above mid table even comes in for him

I love how Davies is playing but Rose is superior in every way including his football brain.

What he did was cunty but let's not be silly. Best LB in the country past 2 seasons.

No way. Davies is a much more technically proficient player than Rose. He's a beautiful striker of ball, better crosser and he's become our left footed corner option, something Rose was never able to be. That was a striker's finish from Davies today. Rose won't be able to dislodge him. Davies has overtaken him on merit. The addition of Sanchez negates his lack of pace compared to Rose imo.

This is almost as funny as the Trippier > Walker shite some on here spouted.

Can't be a coincidence the way full backs go under Poch.

Shaw - best FB in the league under Poch
Clyne - really good under Poch
Walker and Rose - best double act going
Davies and Trippier - improving all the time
Walker-Peters and Aurier - let's give Poch time to weave his magic.
I think it's the system. He gives them a system, a framework for reference. Which means that the back 3/4/5 will always be more than the sum of their parts because they aren't playing like individuals but as a complete unit. For attackers, it's like trying to wrestle an Octopus.

I'd like to think also that it means it will be easier to integrate our promising youth into the first team. If a lad has:

pace;
intelligence (to understand the coaching);
decent ball skills;
good professional attitude (willing to learn)
good team ethos

then he's got a decent chance of slotting in. If these guys have been with the club for a few years, then all of the above will be obvious. We could be singing "he's one of our own" quite alot in the future

One thing that stood out for me though is that we don’t have a song for him. If anyone deserves one surely it’s Ben?

Oh, Ben Davies's really keen
He's got electric boots and a tott'nam suit
You know he plays in Pochettino's dreeeeeeeam, oh ho
B-B-B-Benny's on the left!

Just fucking sing it, it's perfect.

Somebody retweet this post to Ryan Sessegnon...

Interesting little article. Agree with a lot of it.

ben Davies oh oh oh oh
Ben Davies oh oh oh oh
He's got a sweet left foot
He likes to read a book

Surely there's something in here we can work on...

You just went and stole my joke from August 2nd 2015!
:roseunsure:

I listened to "Ben" by Michael Jackson the other day. How weird that he would make a song about a football player in the future. Look at the lyrics.

Ben, the two of us need look no more
We both found what we were looking for
We needed cover for the left back position and there you are Ben..
With a friend to call my own
Everyone connected to Spurs are friends, erm, well, almost.
:adebaehug:
I'll never be alone
I'll admit, that sounds a bit like Michael thought you'd sign for Liverpool. Thanks for choosing us Ben.
And you my friend will see
You've got a friend in me
As long as you play well, and at times you have, it will stay like that.
(You've got a friend in me)
As said above, Ben, it's not quite unconditional.

Ben, you're always running here and there
(Here and there)
Yes you do, and you need to sort out that defensive positioning of yours Ben, you really do. Even dead non-football pundits seem to realize, so please note.
You feel you're not wanted anywhere
(Anywhere)
Especially after you dislocated your shoulder Ben and played a shocker vs Southampton.
If you ever look behind
Just forget about Southampton, you and we all, need to move on from that game.
And don't like what you find
As above, you will not like what you find, just forget it Ben, it was a shocker of a game.
There's something you should know
You've got a place to go
You can go to Stoke or Sunderland.
(You've got a place to go)

I used to say "I" and "me"
Now it's "us", now it's "we"
At the time being, this could change next week.
I used to say "I" and "me"
Now it's "us", now it's "we"
Doesn't necessarily mean it will stay that way during the January transfer window..

Ben, most people would turn you away
Especially after that Southampton game.
I don't listen to a word they say
I have to admit Ben, after that game, I had to listen to what they had to say.
They don't see you as I do
That is not quite true, many share my opinion of you as the best left back in the game.
I wish they would try to
Thoughts can move mountains.
I'm sure they'd think again
If they had a friend like Ben
(A friend)
Like Ben
Yes, they'd think again. Every team needs a Ben.

I think he's well and truly our number one left back now. He's had a sensational start this season and if he keeps it up you simply cannot drop him.

At 24 he's only going to get better. Keep it up Ben you're looking more and more like a genuine star!

Have I been watching something else, having a discussion with another 'Supporter' and he says Davies has been tripe, am I the only won that thinks he's been one of our best this season? Or am I seeing something completely different? He's scored, he's assisted, been pretty creative & very good defensively.

'But buttt he's not as fast as Rose so he's shit like Kane ain't as fast as Neymar so he shit too'

Complete new generation of Fifa fan their for you
