Player Bryan Gil

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If he keeps dominating the physical tests during this tour he will definitely catch Conte's eye.
That's what I was hoping for when I read that he was one of the standouts, seems like the kind of attitude and application that Conte will really appreciate, hopefully will lead to him getting time on the pitch to further impress, then it's down to Gil to grasp his opportunity and start turning his talent into a tangible g/a contribution.

Seems a good lad, fingers crossed he can either work his way into Conte's thinking or at least convince them he's worth a Prem loan to get him ready to be playing for us the following season.

With 5 subs now being the norm he should be able to work himself into a bench rotation option if all goes well. At the very least.

There are two aspects to physicality, endurance and strength. He's severely short on the latter.

He'll need to bulk up a bit to catch Conte's eye. His technique in general is good but the finishing is just horrific, that'll need to improve a lot too.

He'll need to bulk up

You people are fucking obsessed with bulking up. Perhaps we should be looking to bring in Mamdouh Elssbiay, AKA Big Ramy. He seems to have bulked up nicely, I'm sure he could do a job at right wing back.

Or you can stop being such a crybaby.

I've said more than once that Kane and Dier could do with slimming down a bit. It's always case by case basis. He doesn't need to unsually strong, just stronger than he is now. Somewhere near Bernado Silva or Raheem Sterling level would be fine too.

Well I guess you're the expert on optimal body mass, like everything else.

It's a mystery why Tottenham haven't reached out to you yet, all things considered.

Oh, I'm sorry that I have opinions about a footballer on a fucking football forum. Next time I'll get your approval before posting.

I suppose you're not claiming to have some expertise on footballer physique when you claim that Gil is perfectly fine as he is.

Well it's taken years but I've finally taken the plunge and blocked someone.

I've had enough of your obsessive bollocks, your complete lack of good grace, your absence of anything resembling a sense of humour.

Life's too short to waste on internet trolls.

He doesn‘t need to become a brute but he has to be able to win duels and compete for every ball. Similar players in recent years like Lucas. Lamela, Kulusevski are not that big or powerful but they can hold opponents off. Gil has to show he can make it difficult for opponents to get the ball off him. It has to be difficult to play against him.

He has the right attitude and is not afraid to suffer, so let’s see what he can do in this preseason.

Exactly, he's got great technique, tenacity etc. just add a couple kilos so he doesn't get knocked about as easily and he could be really good.

Somehow one of our resident opinion police decided that some of us are calling for him to be the next adama traore.

I sure he can hold off and press ect pretty basic skills ,, but the question is has he the body strength to keep the intensity up during 2 sometimes 3 games over a 7 day period. And the same again the next week ..lets hope so... Cos a flying wingers, for me, are a great watch.

Start an argument with an insult, can't handle getting some back, and slink away mumbling some nonsense about "sense of humour".

Fucking pussy.

I don’t really see him as a flying winger, more as a playmaker like David Silva. A little wizard. He‘s never going to be a player that sprints past people like a classic winger. He’s someone who can play intricate football under pressure.

Strength is not always about bulking up. You need excellent core strength and balance coupled with great technique and there are countless examples of such players (Modric, Kante, D. Silva, etc). You can't always tell that by looking at someone's physique. Until you see them play it's difficult to gauge. I'm hoping Gil is in this category, but we'll see.

Uh, could they? I mean there's that recent Dier clip that someone posted where he's training ... looks pretty shredded to me, probably has a pretty low BF %. Sometimes people just carry their weight differently. I'd be surprised if Kane was in anything less than excellent shape too, given how much many coaches have praised his work in training.

I also don't think Gil struggles with physicality. His end product/decision making in the final third has always been what stood out when he plays, to me at least. I also don't think he's much, if any, smaller than someone like Silva .. just taller.

Indeed.... It's obvious from Kane's core frame that if he slimmed down he'd be left with a 'Crouchy physique'.

Yeh, I think the "Gil needs to bulk up thing" is barking up the wrong tree.... He's raw, not weak. His game needs refining; not muscle.

Core strength is a must for smaller players. He doesn't need to bulk up to a Ronaldo or Bale type of physique. That's not his game anyway.

He just needs to be able to stay on the ball when getting ruffled up a bit. Core strength does that. How big your biceps or lats are don't.

That might come naturally - is he still 20?
