They’ll appeal the second season successfully, but at least they will miss our next year.

That ban hammer needs to fall on PSG and Juve too. And the usual Spanish suspects.

The Spanish duo will not be touched. At the end of the day, UEFA generates alot of income by those two, and they have the Spanish/Catalan governement to protect them. Apart from these last 3 years, Juve have not been big spenders, but they still need to be investigated for the dodgy treatment they get in Serie A / Coppa Italia. Totally agree on PSG.

It will go to whoever finishes 5th. And the Europa League spots will slide down to 6th and below.
So the articles I see say UCL ban, not European ban. Is it then in City's best interest to finish 5th and get into Europa? Or is it actually a ban from all European competitions?

Edit: BBC now says European ban.

They'll appeal and be allowed to play in next season's CL and the result of the appeal will be a 1 season ban for the following season. That's how it's likely to play out, so it won't help us this season but will next.

UEFA have to be very confident that they can win this. Because surely they know that City will throw everything and the kitchen sink at them to have this overturned, and thus FFP destroyed.

How does that help us when we win the league next season?

Isn’t it UEFA that decide whether the punishment is upheld during the appeal process?

If not then why was Chelsea’s upheld?

Manchester City is disappointed but not surprised by today’s announcement by the UEFA Adjudicatory Chamber. The Club has always anticipated the ultimate need to seek out an independent body and process to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence in support of its position.
In December 2018, the UEFA Chief Investigator publicly previewed the outcome and sanction he intended to be delivered to Manchester City, before any investigation had even begun. The subsequent flawed and consistently leaked UEFA process he oversaw has meant that there was little doubt in the result that he would deliver. The Club has formally complained to the UEFA Disciplinary body, a complaint which was validated by a CAS ruling.
Simply put, this is a case initiated by UEFA, prosecuted by UEFA and judged by UEFA. With this prejudicial process now over, the Club will pursue an impartial judgment as quickly as possible and will therefore, in the first instance, commence proceedings with the Court of Arbitration for Sport at the earliest opportunity.

Uefa just make things up as they go along so who knows, City have much deeper pockets than Chelsea though. And you have to wonder how hard they actually fought that ban given they didn't even sign anyone in January when they could after it was reduced to one window.

Agree. It was hope rather than expectation.

But they have to ban PSG at some point. Their model is absurd.

It’s a fair point but I’m hoping it’s upheld for atleast one year.

Well, that’s assuming that UEFA actually want to win it. I’m very sceptical about this sort of stuff. Best case at the moment is they miss out next season. No way will it be two.
