It’s a pretty good option now. If they sack Arteta they’ll stick by new manager come what may. So probably 2 years and 4 windows minimum. Poch, Allegri, Benitez would all have that squad top 10, and within a year challenging for EL. Unfortunately they’re too big to just freefall
But they're below the prestige of managers like Poch and Allegri, they're looking for teams to compete for titles or at the very least high potential teams like Spurs.

Not a mess sitting at the 2 places off relegation, without the money to rebuild the squad, the board are a bunch of clowns who don't know what they're doing.

It's gonna have to be a second tier manager like Potter, Wilder, or Howe.

Probably true, but all the big jobs will have you sacked in 9 months if it goes slightly sour. If woolwich don’t keep Arteta (which they should) the next guy will come in knowing he’s unsackable for a couple years. Because at that point they would be looking at Potter etc.

I reckon Benitez is a decent shout. Still a good manager

Looking at their squad they only a have a few good players. Gabriel and Saka at the top then Tierney and Partey as okish. They do have two World Class players in Ozil and Auba but they have retired after getting big contracts and Lacazette has gone crap. The rest is guff.
Tierney was bought from Celtic, that said it all about his quality.

Damned if they do and damned if they don't ... the players have all the power Ozil was shit for two seasons and now he's their best player on the internet ... Auba is a tap-in one trick pony sure a very good one but at 32 there's no way back for him ... Partey has come from a relaxed game in an average league, the EPL is already crushing him ... and in the entire rest of the squad who else is better than average Tierney? Gabriel? Saka? they're just children.

If they keep Arteta it will just get worse, if they bring in someone new it could fall apart completely ... we can but dream.
