That’s what our club and squad need to get used to if we want to be competing as one of the big clubs. The schedule congestion is just the reality of competing on multiple fronts. No better manager to have in order to manage that. Now that we have a solid squad for him to manage, even better. I’m super excited as a fan for this season and beyond.

That's worked out a treat for us -

Man City after the next International break when we will have Ludogrets at home on the following Thursday and they will have Olympiacos away on the Wednesday to prepare for.

Then Chelsea at the weekend before our trip to Lask on the Thursday when they will have Sevilla away the day before to think about.

Then Woolwich before a home game with Antwerp ....

That run of games City, Chelsea, Woolwich could have been so much harder with tough European games in-between, now we will be the club with the 'easier' schedule.

Is he, though? This is the same manager who left Harry Kane on the field until the 70th minute even though we were up 4-1 in the 36th. You might say "but we didn't have another striker then" but does it matter? We were up 4-1, the game was killed off, and Jose still left Harry Kane on even though he knows he needs him for the full 90 on Sunday.

I think that despite the squad depth, Jose is going to overplay our best players and the likely result is a rash of injuries.

Usually, teams don't rotate heavily at the beginning of the season. Fatigue builds up over the course of the season. You rest then. Not that resting more now when you're fresh after off season vacation, and you have more in your tank toward the end of the season.

There is no one fit all method to manager for players. It's case by case. Kane's usually a slower starter. Perhaps he requires more playing time to get into best form. It's not like he played full game against Chelsea, and running full steam in EL. The intensity of the game is low at the time. It's not harder than the fitness training at the beginning of pre season, which we lack a normal one this time.

You have Ronaldo playing many games a season every season during his career. Mourinho used to managed him at Madrid. Perhaps, you can trust him knowing how to manage the players?

Bit different from having to play Dortmund and Real Madrid in the group stage

Yeah I miss those glamour ties to Red Star Belgrade and Olympicos that we had last season. I really don’t why so many so selective with the CL - there is plenty of dross in the group stage.

We have played Twente, Werder Bremen, Apoel Nicosia. CSKA Moscow, Red Star and Olympicos- hardly standout games

You clearly haven't played much sport, staying on the pitch as a striker when you're 4-1 up is a walk in the park, all you're looking for is to add to your goals tally. The effort required is probably less than most training sessions.

Staying on at 0-0 or even 0-1 down where you're working your nuts off ... now that's different.

I was talking specifically about the group stages from last years campaign.

Nevertheless I don't care too much about "glamour ties" either, theres a reason why everyone in the FA Cup or League cup wants an easy run against league 1 and 2 sides rather than having to go through City/Pool and United.

Glamour ties arent so glamorous when you get knocked out and dumped on your arse before even making it to the last 16.

Five substitutes
From this stage onwards, teams will be permitted to field up to five substitutes in a Europa League match and name 12 substitutes on the bench. For knockout matches, a sixth substitution can also be made during extra time.

Each team may use a maximum of three stoppages in play to make substitutions – one additional stoppage in extra-time can be used. Substitutions made during half-time, between the end of normal playing time and extra-time, and at half-time during extra-time do not reduce the number of stoppages in play that can be used.

So we take a squad of 23 players to each game - that's going to be almost all of our first team squad.

I wonder if in many matches we take 2/3/4 youngsters for the bench - gives a few more first team players a complete rest and if we are comfortably ahead, we bring on a youngster to both help his development and rest a first team squad player. The likes of Harvey White comes to mind - looked very promising in this pre-season (and indeed pre-season 2019 under Poch) - yet to make his first team competitive debut

Stoke drawn yesterday in the league cup, this draw in the EL, we were given two penalties in a game, we won a penalty shoot out, we knocked Chelsea out, we've finally signed a back up striker Nice few days tbf:moursad:
I hope all our luck wasn't used up this week.

I just have this bad feeling the refs are gonna fuck us over. My trust in the officiating has dropped to an all time low and that's saying something.

Wow. Fit in nicely with our schedule. Killing the first 3 games then by the fourth game, and it's very manageable for us with all those game in London, before heading North against the Dippers.

October 18th : West Ham (home)
October 22nd : LASK Linz (home)
October 26th: Burnley (away)
October 29th : Antwerp (away)
October 31th: Brighton (home)
November 5th : Ludogorets (away)
November 7th: West Brom (away)
November 21st: Man Shitty (home)
November 26th : Ludogorets (home)
December 3rd : LASK Linz (away)
December 10th : Antwerp (home)
Every game there we should be winning.

Yes you’re right. There certainly wasn’t a risk when Kane tried to score at the end of the first half and kicked hard through the keeper grabbing the ball. It clearly made more sense to leave our best player who had already played a bunch of minutes that week and needed to play a bunch more minutes 3 days later on the pitch in a game that’s killed off. After all, Kane is not injury prone at all.

Which club did you win the CL with btw?

Yup one incident in one game proves your point? We're talking about overall performance, you want to see Kane on the bench, I'd rather see him scoring a 79th minute penalty to put us 6-1 up .... each to their own I guess.

Any idea who's likely to drop down from the CL?
