Played it perfectly. You never want to peak in the group stages. We looked bang average but did enough to get through. Switzerland was a noticeable improvement and then it was better still against the Dutch. The only time they got back in the game was when they brought on Weghorst and played like Pulis' Stoke City.

Will take a monumental effort to beat an in form Spain team. But if the game is level going towards and possibly into extra time would anyone write us off with the players we have on our bench?

That decision is down to who makes more of a meal out of it in my opinion.

If Dumfries goes down holding his foot because Kane kicks it, a penalty probably isn't given tbh

I don't think you'll see a softer penalty given for a "challenge" and if we did, you'd get penalties in the Premier League on a weekly basis.

Seems like the threshold for that sort of thing is different in the box than it is out of the box. How many times have we seen players get taken out by goalkeepers or defenders for trying to save or block shots and it not given?

I specifically remember Spurs fans moaning about a penalty we conceded against Southampton when I think Sarr(?) went to clear the ball and the Southampton player simply got in the way. A ridiculously soft decision.

Not particularly arsed on this occasion though because it was England that benefitted 😂
Some valid points there, but I can't stress the 'studs hitting top of Kane's foot' bit enough. It's a bone-breaker and very, very painful. That's the tipping point. If it had been ANY other part of his leg blocking Kane's foot, it's not a pen. (Unless he'd hit him harder, of course, because you can't just kick people when you feel like it, Cuti).

BTW, Neville is a fucking joke. His reaction was pathetic. What a drama queen!

And yes, there are loads of times where it's not given (Pickford's leg-breaker on VVD should have been a 10-match ban!). But I'm very happy this one was, because it's fair and the defender shouldn't have just stuck his foot there, hoping to interfere. He basically gave up on clearing the ball and just tried to block it with the bottom of this foot. A simple mistake, but a painful foul nonetheless.

My only real issue here is people claiming it was a ridiculous mistake and the 'games gone'. Salah got pens for throwing himself to the floor ffs!

I've said it before, but if Southgate has deliberately kept our powder dry to work up to the finals, then he's a cunning fucker and I'll take my hat off to him.

At this point, it's getting hard to argue he's not making stuff happen. And the 'despite him' argument looses it's teeth. The players like him, they've turned up, fought back and are now in a final.

If we take an extra step towards our best game in the final, I'll chip in for a statue.

The only real gripe I've ever had with Southgate is how late he leaves his subs. He got it right last night just about, but usually, he leaves the other team in the ascendancy for far too long before thinking about making changes. When you have absolute quality on the bench you shouldn't be hesitating to use it.

There a big difference between club and International management and I think he's genuinely a good coach in International football. I could easily see him going to another under-achieving country and doing a good job.

Also, this notion about it not being a penalty is utter bollocks. If that happens anywhere else on the pitch a foul is given and absolutely nobody has a problem with it. Why should it be any different because it's inside the penalty area?

Their defender got nowhere near the ball and made some contact with Kane's foot. Soft on his part, but a penalty all the same.

Different rules inside the penalty area though.

Kane got the shot off so it's not as if hit hindered him, hate those pens because the defender literally cannot do anything else.

No-one is getting dropped in the Euro final. Let’s be real.
Nor should they be

Watkins was a special finish. But that gap didn’t exist for the first 80 minutes

People were calling for Shaw. He was probably worse than Trippier

Spain are good. But not for 90 mins. Their goals against France were all about “moments” not a sustained amount of high quality attacking.

We need to deal with Rodri. He’s my main concern up against Rice and Jude

My point is exactly yours. It doesn’t mean anything.

It was in response to a claim that Croatia needing extra time to beat England in 2018 was significant. It isn’t.
Haven’t you got a terrace overlooking a vineyard to go to . We are enjoying a rare moment of albeit ( limited so far )success , so can you kindly do a Marcel Marceau STFU . We may or may not get over the line , we expect salty tears from Scotland fans but not sure why you are crying . Maybe it’s the onions
